Anyone know how the Pac-12 Network (both national and region) are going to work? Living in San Diego, I don't get to see many UW or Oregon games (obviously more Oregon since they are on national tv more often). I'm sure different cable providers will handle it differently, but does anyone know if you will have your choice of regional feeds to watch? For example, would I be able to subscribe to the UW/WSU channel, or would I be stuck with USC/UCLA?

I haven't heard anything in months on this, but haven't spent anytime checking into and hopefully some of you have!

Re: Pac 12 Networks

I dont have a link or certainty, but I believe next year is what I read somewhere.

Yeah, I remember it was going to be launched next year. Just wondering how it'll all work. I'm tired of watching crappy streams every week!

Re: Pac 12 Networks

Awesome. Hopefully Direct adds it here in Texas

Re: Pac 12 Networks

Not sure about up in Portland, but Cox has launched the Pac 12 channel down here. There isn't any real content on their yet, but the fact that the channel is finally here is something to celebrate. Hopefully this means no more watching Justin.tv for me!

Re: Pac 12 Networks

I've been watch the Pac 12 channel for a couple of days now on Comcast. It's going to be nice having so many Pac 12 events on TV!

Re: Pac 12 Networks

hopeing something gets done with Dish soon!

Are you getting the regional channel now or just the national one? According to the Pac12 website, I'm supposed to get the LA station, but so far I only have the national one.

I think what I've been watching is the regional one, but I'm not sure. I'll have to check that out.

Re: Pac 12 Networks

I have been getting the regional channel 420 and HD channel 720 and the national channel on 421 since the network launched on Comcast. You get the Oregon regional channel if you have the starter package and the national channel if you have the sports package. I was surprised that the national channel does not come in HD.

RT @wilnerhotline Piecing together info from sources on Pac12 & DirecTV: would b very surprised if deal not done soon.

So yes, Deal Coming Soon

Re: Pac 12 Networks

there would be much rejoicing!

Re: Pac 12 Networks

I won't be able to get regional stuff, but having the pac 12 network on dtv here in Houston would be awesome

I think online content is supposed to be a big part of the network. That might mean you can get the regional stuff online at least. That's what I'm hoping for at least. That being said, I'm guessing the national channel will show all of the Ducks games. Basketball season is when you might not get all them live.

gotcha... but the games that are actually played on the network would be available to you right?

Should be? I "get" to see all of the programming on the Big 10 Network, so it should be no different

Re: Pac 12 Networks

Wonder what package you have to have to get this Network?

Re: Pac 12 Networks

They are chasing there tails on the production end of things....... I just got crewed to work for them down in LA the 24th/28th/29th. Said they were swamped with work.... Usually you get crewed for stuff at least a month out.

Re: Pac 12 Networks

Not sure? I know Mrs HCP told me she wishes you had the bigger package. Not sure if she was talking about Directv though?

For Directv, I am assuming the sports package

Re: Pac 12 Networks

We might not even need to get the sports package if it counts as a local sports channel? I pick up Root sports and Comcast Bay Area down here because they are close to me, so maybe it will be the same with the Pac 12 channel?

Re: Pac 12 Networks

We need to get the Pac 12 Network on Directv or if not at least Charter or Dish. Those are the only providers I could get. I doubt Dish would get it without Directv also getting it but you never know. I go to all the games but would still like to rewatch the games. I might miss some of the road games and can't rewatch any of the games. I would even switch to Charter or Dish from Directv if they got The Pac 12 Network. I hope this doesn't go like CSNW did for the Blazers. I still can't watch CSNW and have given up. I don't think The Pac 12 Network will be like that though. I do think most of the providers will eventually pick it up. I know I will switch even though I love Directv to the first from Dish or even Charter that carries The Pac 12 Network before Directv.

Re: Pac 12 Networks

deal close for Dish Network?

One of the preliminary indicators that a TV network might be on the verge of getting picked up is when a satellite company receives an uplink for the channel. An uplink indicaes that there could very well be a channel inserted into the lineup in the near future, and the satellite company is putting the channel together to ensure that things will be ready once an agreement is actually signed.

Well, guess which network showed up in the latest set of uplinks from Dish: The Pac-12 Network gets listed at 413. It's depressingly in standard definition, but it could be the first step to a high definition channel being offered down the road (and also Pac-12 Anywhere could mitigate the lack of an HD channel with high-quality streams through the Pac-12 site).

Now first of all, let's settle one thing: An uplink does not mean Dish Network has agreed to carry the Pac-12 Network; it just means they're anticipating the possibility that a Pac-12 Network might get carried on their airwaves. There are hundreds of channels that have been uplinked before that never ever light up a TV screen. Many channels are tested in the case that a deal is made, and the channel can get up and running as quickly as possible. So there is still a very good chance that the end result from all this interest might be another dead end.

What it probably does mean is that the satellite company and the Pac-12 Network see eye-to-eye enough to make us believe negotiation is possible on both sides. A satellite uplink is far more public process than anything we saw between the Pac-12 and DirecTV.
