Verizon FiOS offers CSNW in HD

I haven't seen a post about this yet... but I see CSNW and the Blazer games on now on Verizon FiOS 577 in HD.
 
I just called my dad who has FiOS and has been complaining about not having HD since he switched from Comcast to FiOS this summer. And he was ecstatic when I told him to turn to 577 to find out it was in HD now haha
 
That's it. I'm ditching DirecTV today for FIOs. Congrats, Comcast, you won, in a way. You got me to switch from the Dishes.
 
I love FiOS... internet and TV. The DVRs are not quite as good as I had with DirecTV, but the only thing I have ever had to complain about was the crappy CSNW picture last year (that improved this year) and then the lack of HD.

I wonder if this is a sign that Comcast thinks it has milked everyone possible to switch and now they are going to sign deals. Hope so. I am going to be at beach over spring break which means no Blazer games. =(
 
I have been waiting for this day for so long. The only bad part about an HDTV is that it makes Non-HD look so bad.
 
I'm looking at FIOS. I just got an HDTV so I've been weighing comcast and FiOS. I'm thinking of going with FIOS. How does the HDTV selection compare to comcast?

Supposedly, the picture is clearer on FIOS. I think Comcast might have a few more HD channels than Verizon, but I'm sure they are 4th-tier stations that no one hardly watches.
 
Woah, woah, woah, really? SWEET! I saw that the CSN channel jumped in to the HD sports grouping with ESPN, etc.... but haven't tried to watch a Blazer game on the channel yet (partially because I go to every home game). But this is excellent news.

Uhm, that has to be a very temporary price. And as much as people blast Comcast, it's a way better service than Verizon FiOS, IMO. I miss Comcast and would have it but it's not offered on my street. I live on the boundary of an agricultural zone. The neighborhood I can see from my porch gets Comcast, but I don't. I miss it.

Yeah, perhaps. We have our cell phones going through Verizon as well, so I see a bigger bill every month. Either way, I like Comcast more. TV specifically. Internet speed is about the same, but I hate the FiOS TV interface. It really sucks compared to Comcast, IMO. But the addition of CSN HD on FiOS is a HUGE plus. Helps balance things out a bit.

Really? FiOS is supposed to be much faster internet speeds.
 
FiOS internet is better an in my opinion the TV interface is better than Comcast.

I've had comcast for a long time, so I'm somewhat worried about the FiOS interface.

I had Comcast for 5 years or so and moving to FiOS has been much harsher than I thought it would be. I've had FiOS since mid May last year and I still don't like it as much as Comcast. And believe me, I tried to like it. I wanted to forget Comcast, but after almost a year of FiOS, I'll take Comcast every day of the week. They're a successful company for a reason. And I know that hurts many Blazer fans. But it's true.
 
As someone who switched from Comcast to Verizon about a year ago (a bit under), I can chime in here. The only HD channel which I missed at the time was CSN, and now that's fixed. There's also some channels I have gained over the past year in HD that I didn't have on Comcast, though to be fair since I gained them during that time it's possible Comcast got them too. Bottom line is I don't personally think the availability of HD channels would sway me either way.

As for internet speed, Verizon is faster when I run speed tests, but not by a noticeable margin with standard usage (though you can pay more for a faster speed, so I'm sure if you did you'd notice the difference).

The interfaces are really quite similar. I think anyone familiar with one would figure out the other in about 10 minutes. I wouldn't let this stop you from switching if you were considering it.

I don't like the Verizon dvr quite as much as the Comcast one, though they really are quite similar (same hardware even, just different software). Though one big plus for Verizon is that I am able to record NBA Basketball as a series, whereas I had to always set every game under Comcast.

Really, in the end, I say go with whichever offers the better deal. I rarely had any problems with my Comcast (and most of those were fixed by restarting my router), and haven't had any problems with Verizon yet.
 
Does Verizon have the non-HD channel of CSNW? Don't have HD, don't even have cable, but would think of switching if I could get CSNW for the Blazers games. Beats the internet feeds.
 
Thanks, although just looked and it said TV was not available in my zip code, so oh well. Bummer.
 
Fuck Comast! I have had Comcast, Dish and Directv and Comcast is by far the worse between them. If Dish or Directv ever get CSNW I would never ever think about getting Comcast.
 
Right now I have both Directv and Comcast. Can't get fios where I'm at. Directv interface and dvr is way better than Comcast. Sounds like how Comcast is better than Verizion fios is how Directv is better than Comcast.
 
Question for the Comcast vets. Is there a way to delete a lot of programs all at once off of the DVR? Say I have 20 of one program and want to delete them. With Directv I can just click on one program and then hit one button twice to delete the show, but with Comcast I have to click on it and then scroll to the right and hit delete. Is there a faster way? Also in directv I can click on a folder holding all the same show and double hit the button and delete them all at once. Anything similar in comcast?

Not that I am aware of. You have to delete them show by show.
