I guess it depends on what you think "significant" means.

I think this team get to the playoffs with Nash, but still gets bounced in round 1 if it's the only move.
Me too. My question would be why make that move then? Staying mediocre is cancerous to a sports franchise

This team reminds me of the Rod Strickland era, where we had a few good players and a mediocre supporting cast.....8th seed, 1st round exit....crappy draft picks.

bandaids, bandaids, bandaids. Nash is 38 fucking years old, and while he can still play, he won't make a difference this season. Rondo is obviously a great player, if the Celtics really do trade him, what does that say about him?Teams just don't trade stud PG's with his talent unless there are serious underlying reasons. Ridnour is the epitome of a bandaid. Maybe an upgrade over what we have now, but why?

So, we shouldn't trade for great young players, we shouldn't trade for great veteran players, and we shouldn't trade for average players.

Who's left?

Rondo is a major headcase. That is the reason Boston is willing to trade him. I'd trade for him in a heartbeat if they didn't demand Batum amoung others to get him. He has the talent to trade away a bunch of guys for, but not the head

Fair enough.

IMHO, Rondo gets the Sheed treatment. People over-estimate him as a player, and then label him a head-case when he falls short of inflated expectations. YMMV.

I think it's telling that a team with a very player friendly coach like Rivers wants to desperately rid himself of a guy with that much talent. In a vaccum I think Rondo is a terrific player, but when you see this much smoke about a player being a headcase and being un-coachable it makes me take pause and assume there's probably a fire ... speaking of "fire," adding this kind of player to a team like the Blazers that is slowly igniting into a dumpster fire, doesn't seem like it's going to end well.
