2009 champion Victoria Azarenka takes on three time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova in the final of the 2011 Sony Ericsson Open Championships, a WTA cornerstone event being played here in Miami, USA.
Belarusian Victoria Azarenka is definitely enjoying her best run at a tournament since her last triumph here in Miami in 2009 when she beat five time winner Serena Williams in the final to clinch the biggest title of her career. Azarenka took out big names like Kim Clijsters and Vera Zvonareva to advance to the final which clearly gives her an edge ahead of the title match.
Azarenka's opponent, and former finalist Maria Sharapova has everything that most players envy about- multile Grand Slams, No.1 ranking, multi million endorsements, and most importantly, the golden years of tennis ahead of her. Sharapova toppled giant killer Andrea Petkovic in the semifinals to make it to the championship round. However, an increasing number of double faults have always been a concern for the tall Russian.
