Video Editing on a MAC

Anyone experienced with this? Would an iMAC suffice? I don't know if I can justify spending 3 grand on a machine......

but I'd mainly be dealing with HD video....

Final Cut Pro Express?

It just seems like less hassle than using a PC.

Thinking a 24" imac.....1799 but probably closer to 2500 after buying bells and whistles.....

would be producing youtube videos, promo pieces, etc.
