Have any of you been watching this series on the History channel? I just finished the first two seasons last week and I am totally hooked. Season 3 comes out next summer so I giving those of you who havent seen this show ample time to catch up so we can talk about it next year. Dont miss out, this is the best show on TV. Better than Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad, no joke. Its loosely based on the semi mythical life of Ragnar Lothbrok, the Viking who first discovered how to travel across the great sea to England and start with their early raids on the unsuspecting villages there. He eventually rose to king of the vikings, although the series isnt there yet. Ive always found this portion of history interesting and they do a very good job with the story line.

Its on History so no actual boobs, there is tons sexual matter in it though. Lots of gore and fight scenes. Lagertha is one hot ass shield maiden who can kick some serious ass.

I'm a big fan of Vikings as well, but better than Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad? It's not that good, man

I love watching BBC docs about British History. The Celts, Romans, Vikings, Saxons, and the fucking Normans.

To each their own but its in the same league at least. Game of thrones is the better comparison, same style minus the zombies, dragons and not as many story lines. The historical aspect always adds to it for me also.

Its nice to see history doing more of this type of show and less of ancient aliens.

I could not get interested in Game of Thrones. But Vikings is one of the best series I've ever seen! I happened to catch the 1st episode when it premiered and was hooked ever since. You kinda have to start from the beginning though because there is so much back history with all the characters.

I'm watching!

Fuckin' Floki!

Athelstan :(

Paris is gettin' its ass sacked!

Vikings is good. I haven't lost interest in it (I did with GOT), which says something.

easy to say because GOT hasn't started yet. Give 3 weeks and I could change my tune, but overall I like Vikings much much better. The story line is easier to follow and the history based aspect helps my attention to the subject. I also really like how they depict Christianity and the norse gods as being the same but different. Characters like Ragnar and the King Egbert see this and live in both worlds, where others like Floki can not.

Oh yea and oh shit almost forgot, Ragnar has a new son to that English chick. Thats going to be interesting.

Tonight Paris falls and the gods will curse Floki!

You guys trying to learn about the Vikings when you already got me here to ask?

King Egbert was a good egg.

What do you think Ragnar has in store for Floki? Odd that he would sacrafice so many of his own people to get revenge on Floki....... unless he knew it was a loosing battle that had to happen anyway and better to have Floki to blame. History has the vikings taking Paris on this raid so I wonder what is up Ragnars sleeve.

On a funny side note, this is the first show that Ive ever watched that makes me feel like history is my entertainment spoiler.

TBQH I'm about a season and a half behind in GOT and probably won't get caught up.

My problem with GoT is that it is ultimately turning into a dragon vs zombie fight that is dragging out for 7 seasons. Also since its based purely on fantasy then the author can literally do anything he wants and is not bound by any type of reality in his story writing. Vikings at least has to stay close to history. GoT is well written and entertaining though.

Ragnar is gonna kill Floki eventually, he killed his bro. I'm still sad about Athelstan. I hate Floki.

The Vikings seem to feel let down by their gods lately. Maybe some of them will convert to Christianity soon?

Eventually they all convert but Im not sure at what point that happens, could be years. Here is an interesting wiki about Rollo and what may be in store for him and I think they touched on this with his moment with the French queen.

This show could literally go on for years after Ragnar dies. Some of his sons and brother were just as famous as he was. In fact Ive read that some people think that this whole series is just build up to the story of his sons, especially Ivar the Boneless. Ivar was the son who was born with the mystery illness and was visited by the stranger who took away his pain. He rose to become one of the most feared viking raiders in history and the commander of the The Great Heathen Army, leading the revenge assault on England to avenge Ragnars death.

oh and by the way, I love Floki, or rather love to hate him. Ill be dissapointed when he dies, but I have a feeling its going to be an epic fall for him.

Vikings is not really historically based as Lothbrook is a fictional character.

I watched Season 1 on Comcast Xfinity On Demand this weekend. Great show! It reminds me of Sons of Anarchy.
