Wade Baldwin makes G League debut tonight

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

for anyone that cares. It’ll be streamed on Facebook live (Texas legends) at 4pm pst.

I'll watch it tonight (You can always watch replays)

I will say, though... the audio of the commentators is so poor, it almost makes it unwatchable.

I may check it out. Some on here speak highly of him and I know very little about him.

Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah I’m one of those idiots. I’m expecting some rust, but I hope he at least flashes some of his talent. He’s got skills on both ends and profiles well next to either of our guards.
So how'd his showing go?

Never got around to watching it.

Box score says not that great. 12 pts (3-15 shooting) 4 rebounds 4 assists in 30 minutes. He did get to the line a lot, something I did notice about his game, and was a +7, one of only three guys on his team that wasn’t in minus.

And he’s still wearing some sort of wrap on his shooting hand, can’t imagine that helps.

This thread is annoying. His name is not Baldwin.

Trail Blazers Transfer Wade Baldwin IV to Legends
(December 6, 2017) – The Portland Trail Blazers have transferred guard Wade Baldwin IV to the Texas Legends of the NBA G League, it was announced today by president of basketball operations Neil Olshey.

A two-way roster player signed on Oct. 19, Baldwin IV underwent successful surgery to repair an ulnar collateral ligament tear in his right thumb on Oct. 25.

Baldwin IV averaged 3.2 points, 1.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 12.3 minutes in 33 games (one start) during his rookie 2016-17 season with the Memphis Grizzlies.

The 17th overall pick in the first round of the 2016 NBA Draft out of Vanderbilt, Baldwin IV (6-4, 200) posted averages of 12.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.33 steals and 28.2 minutes in 33 games (22 starts) with the NBA G League’s Iowa Energy last season.

Baldwin IV prefers that you get his name right. Thank you.

A couple of nice one-handed passes off of the dribble including a left-hand bullet.

Watched the second half. Baldwin finished with 17pts, 7 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 blocks and only 2 turnovers. The bad? 5-14 shooting, but also just 5-10 from the line. The guy has always been a good free throw shooter so it’s gotta be that wrap he’s wearing on his shooting hand that’s bothering him.

But I was really surprised at how good his vision is and how unselfish he plays. A lot of guys in the g league play a selfish game, trying to “get theirs.” Even though his shot wasn’t falling he still impacted the game (team best +20) and plays with a certain swag. He looked like...a point guard. He’s also really tough to stop once he gets going downhill at the rim. Explosive first step and knows how to draw fouls. His length on defense bothers guys.

I think he’s a keeper. Definitely worth developing.

Creative passing is fun to watch. He can look for his shot and look to set up easy looks for his teammates at the same time.

It’d be awesome if he can translate it to the NBA level because there’s some real value in a point guard with Baldwin’s size/length. It would also allow us to end the stupid Mccollum PG experiment.

Watched the second half. He's really good in transition, something the Blazers struggle at. Based off what I've seen, he's a point guard in the NBA. Good handle, protects the ball, good vision. He put up 19 shots yet I still feel played an unselfish game. It should translate to the NBA. I like what he does defensively as well. He's a pest and plays with fire.

He seems all business, not dazed and confused like some of our past D-Leaguers. The Peter Principle says that he will be promoted to the next level until he settles into the level where he's mediocre, like Tim Frazier.

The Legends twitter maker invented the nickname! He is The IV (pronounced "The Fourth").

I guess you have to go to Scalma's post to see the caption.

How is that a nickname

Because that's what option he is on offense when he's on the floor?

Or maybe instead of "The Fourth", it's actually supposed to be "The I.V.", because he provides an infusion of energy, and gets under opponents' skin?

Or maybe that's just his fucking name, who knows !

So if we nickname you "Walker," that's not a nickname because it's part of your real name that your parents gave you?
