Blazers trying for an accelerated rebuild with youth and some untapped potentials after moving on from Dame? I don't see it working.
 
I am not going to knock this until I know how much we are paying him. Nurk will be gone and we do need some centers.
7'3" 265 works for me if he is decent and cheap. His age is a non-factor as it won't prevent us from getting a young center as well.

The name sounds familiar…. If memory serves me well hes a pretty tall guy.
 
Jeez, you guys are dumb. Lillard is leaving, so we have to pivot. We're not trading Nurk. We're pivoting from the all guard team to the all Centers team. Nurk, Badji, Butler, Tavares. Only problem is that we need a fifth starter. No prob, now that we know Dame is leaving, I'm sure we can get Watford back. Maybe Walker can play some center....

EuroLeague Final Four MVP Edy Tavares is being lured back to the NBA. The 31-year-old center has received an offer from the Portland Trail Blazers, sources tell BasketNews.

With 13 NBA games under his belt already, Tavares is eager to test himself in the NBA again and move to Portland for a multi-year contract.

The biggest obstacle to the deal is the massive buyout clause imposed by Real Madrid, which was included in a five-year contract signed in 2019.

Per BasketNews sources, the NBA buyout for Tavares is even higher than the €6M that Facundo Campazzo had to pay in 2020 to secure his move to the Denver Nuggets.

However, Tavares' contract with Real Madrid will expire in one year. The player from Cape Verde may be able to walk away for free in the summer of 2024.

Despite multiple reports suggesting that Tavares is nearing an agreement on a contract extension with Madrid, both parties are still far from reaching a deal, sources tell BasketNews.
