Mainly football jerseys, I have no clue how to wash them. Usually, with my clothes, I'll wash them in cold water and then let them air-dry, can I do the same?

Thats what i do, i knew someone that washed it in hot water and dry it on hot, when the jersey came out all that was left was a melted letters and numbers

That's what your friend gets for buying a knock-off jersey.

Cold water and air dry is what I'd recommend.
