Good win.

Lets actually be consistent in winning for once this year. Only three times have we won 3 games in a row. :MARIS61:

really an odd game last night. Have to say that The Bear is growing on me. He has exposed without doubt the weakness of this team. We looked like two distinctly different teams, one that had a competitive chance and the other that belonged in the lottery, I hope we can either pick up the pieces to complement Dame or move him and get a point that can play D.

So, who are you planning to get to replace Lillard's 27 PPG? The list of PGs who are equally good at offense and defense pretty much begins and ends with Chris Paul.

Dunno man, I have not given it much thought. But would we be better off with a guy that gives us 16 or 18 points and plays D? I hate to see guys get career numbers playing us.

We wouldn't do it but do you think the Grizzlies would trade Conley for Lillard?

Does that really happen? Occasionally, yes. Like the Yogi Ferrell game. For the most part, though, our guards outscore the opposing backcourt by a LOT. Not even close.

I foresee better TEAM defense with an bona fide anchor in Nurk. Lillard's defense will be no problem if the team buys into the string theory of D....we did with Wes, Nic, Dame, LA and Rolo...top 5 defensive team for several stretches if I remember correctly...it was Wes keeping everybody on the string leading..we haven't had that guy vocally for a long time. Turner, Chief and Nurk are huge defensive upgrades if they play together the way I think they can..Chief keeps Mo on the string all the time with vocal direction...without Chief..Mo breaks the string often..you watch the Spurs defense or the Grizzlies and you see all 5 guys move like dance partners..together...no chaos...that takes practice.

So you agree that having both Lillard and McCollum as huge defensive minuses is a problem, then? You referenced a team that surrounded Lillard with four decent-or-better defenders and pointed out the major value that Matthews, an excellent defensive shooting guard, provided. Would that defense have been so good if Matthews had been replaced by someone who was really poor on defense?

sure.....I never thought CJ and Dame together worked defensively...I have been pretty much alone around here in thinking he's the perfect 6 man...I want a 6'5 shooting guard starting games who's a 3 and D guy...hoped that would be Crabbe...I did like seeing CJ, Dame and Shabazz play together the other night though..my whole point is that even Dame and CJ could improve if they locked in...Wes kept them locked in. Gerald Henderson kept them locked in...that's what's been missing although Chief is more and more that guy...it's harder for Turner or Nurk to be that guy being new...Crabbe is just way, way too quiet and mellow...the dude needs B vitamins or something...

CJ IS our 6th man. He just starts too.

Nice win but really hampers our re-tool/rebuild.

With a juicy lottery pick in sight, Portland starts winning - dragging us kicking and screaming into the void of NBA purgatory.

Portland y u win when we supposed to lose?

I had to pinch myself just now. We actually won a game. It's sad that they've become so rare yet true nonetheless. Can you believe we won?
Its a Cleveland thing.................

Therein lies the problem with CJ as the running mate. Now the most defensive players you will have around either of them is 3.

You're not alone....but it's definitely a small group. One that CJ would never buy into IMO.

Ya know, i watched the SA vs the Pelicants last night. Pelis have Two bigs that have not played more than three games together, one pretty darned good guard and a bunch of guys that the picked up on ten day contracts. They played SA to overtime with great D against the number three D in the league.

A lot of D is effort. Dame spends his on O....he reminds me of Iverson with his style of hero ball..he takes bad shots just to take a shot and guys blow past him...and no, I am not just picking on dame alone, though it is obvious that in my opinion, he has lost his luster. This entire team needs to be retooled..

The simple addition of the Bear...just one player has increased view ability of this team..we need more changes, please

This thread actually made me think. Everyone should read it a second time. It started dumb, but picked up on Post #13

and got sharp beginning with Post #19 and then subsequent posts.

(before you say it...) until my post brought it down.
