ESPN Insider is taking a look at guys who still have not signed with teams, and Webber is among their top 10. I didn't read the article because I don't have Insider. But given that Boone and Magloire are not looking productive and that Allen's playing time is currently small and inconsistent, Webber seems like an avenue worth pursuing if he is willing to come in for a vet minimum. He can still pass as well as any big in the game and is a decent rebounder. No he doesn't defend, but, right now, Collins is the only big getting time who does (unless you count Magloire's clobbering as "deterrent" defense). We don't have a big who makes confident, on-target interior passes from the high post, and there are a number of sets this year that have a big in a position where he is ostensibly expected to do just that.

This is where Webber could be highly valuable. He was tremendous for the Kings as an elbow passer, and, for 12 minutes a game or so, could certainly help the Nets in that area. Any takers?
