After 12 years in Atlanta, we're comin' back home!!!! :ghoti:

Crap, meant for the OT forum. Mod, please move.

Thanks!

Hope you don't get shot while in Memphis....

Santa Fe is a nice little town!

I'd advise you to drive straight through OKC as there is, literally, nothing to do there.

Santa Fe is a nice little town!

Funny story:

My former boss had to fly to Memphis on business. He met some other colleagues at the airport, rented a car, then they all proceeded to go to downtown Memphis for some fun on the town.

Well, as they didn't know the area, they ended up going down a street which turned out to be in the, uhhhmm, "bad" side of town. Oh, and they knew it. BOY, did they know it! :biglaugh:

Anyhoo, soon after that, my boss looked in his rear-view mirror and saw the law with his lights on. He pulled over while the cop was pulling up along side of their car. The cop then motioned to my boss to roll down his window, smiled, and said, "You're lost, aren't ya."

To which my boss replied (with that scared look), "Uh huh."

"Follow me" said the cop................and proceeded to escort them out of the area.

Just don't go through Minny! Blizzard time!

You should plan your trip so you can catch a Blazer game.

Hopefully, that works out in Memphis or OKC for us. :D

I'm still debating between staying one night in Albuquerque or Santa Fe. Ever been to either/both?

I know a pretty cool hike along the beach at "the lost coast" south of Eureka. It's the longest stretch of beach on the west coast without any sort of road access... 20+ miles. There is a cool old out of commission lighthouse after about 2 miles at a spot called Punta Gorda which is the Westernmost point in Ca. I went about 8 miles in and camped on a bluff near a stream but it can certainly be a day hike as well. It's spectacular CA beaches with absolutely no one else around.

Whats your SF timeline... what are you looking to do here?

Dang, that sounds like a GREAT time! I'll tell my wife about that.

My Niece and her husband live in San Fran, so we'll be staying with them. When I do a Google map search, I see they live next to The Presido off Broadway (Webster.)

ABM, when in Santa Fe, have breakfast at the Cloud Cliff Cafe. Have dinner at Tomacita's. Make sure to get a margarita with dinner--you'll thank me later if you remember anything. If you're doing some sightseeing, head up to Taos (only about 45 min).

They're a 30-45 minutes from one another, so it's no big deal. However, stay in Santa Fe. There are inexpensive motels along Cerrillos Road.

Duly bookmarked. Thanks!

PS: Wish we could go through Denver so that I could buy you that meal and drinks as promised. However, we'll be staying south as the wife has good friends in Phoenix. My Niece is in San Francisco.

I'm a couple miles to the West and will happily make suggestions on what to do here but more feedback on what you like to do would help. A real nice days activity is to rent bikes at Blazing Saddles near the Ferry Building on the Embarcadero at the end of Market street. Then bike along the outer edge of the city counter clockwise along a bike path past Sea Lions and through various greenspaces and water access areas until you cross the Golden Gate Bridge. Continue on to Sausalito where you can eat, shop, and catch a ferry back to where you rented your bike. Round trip is 15 miles or so and really not that big of a deal.

PM me if you want further help/suggestions or to throw back a soda

Hey, ABM, if you end up going up through "wine country," in Northern California, make sure to stop at Russian River Brewing in Santa Rosa. If you enjoy tasty brew... you don't wanna miss this joint. They have some of the best microbrews I've ever had and an awesome Happy Hour to boot (I think it's 3-7 p.m. and the beers were about $1.75/pint).

Fow what it's worth (i.e. nothing), my favorite beer that I tried there was Pliny The Elder! Unreal--wish I had it on tap, at home!
