We're gonna miss Outlaw.

He hit the winner in Atlanta two seasons ago. He has athletic advantages over many of our opponents. He can create his own shot. He can hit the three. And he was our most reliable scorer off the bench. Hopefully, Rudy can consistently do that now but still, Outlaw will be missed. 0-1 without him. Sucks. Let's win the next 10. 18-4 would rule.

No more Outlaw sound effect. I think he will be missed, but this is an opportunity for someone else to step up. Eric -- you go too far out of your way to convince everyone that Outlaw is the bees knees. He has gotten some undeserved criticism, but in the end it doesn't really matter. You will never win. People look at the negatives with Outlaw (and admit it he does have some weaknesses) and they do not value his positives. You should relish this time right now. Someone else will become the goat. I don't know how effective Outlaw will be if/when he comes back. He relies a lot on his jumping, more so than Webster. He is in a contract year. I would hate to see him come back too early and reinjure himself. Unless you want to become the poster that gets under everyone's skin the whole year, I would suggest you just lay in wait until finally the fanbase can admit that you're right or the Blazers are kicking ass! Either way you win.

Because Bayless plays PG and Outlaw plays PF, so there's little overlap with their potential for playing minutes.

Me, neither. The team seemed to be taking much smarter shots throughout the game and I was happy not to have to worry about Outlaw missing open guys on the blocks or passing up an open jumper to drive for a mid-range, contested one.

If Blake doesn't shoot under 30% for the game, we probably win... and I don't think that Outlaw would have helped Blakey shoot any better.

No shit sherlock? Thanks for the update. I was pointing out that Bayless brings scoring and that is what the backup unit will be lacking with Outlaw out. It doesnt' matter what position they play, you make adjustments in order to make sure enough offense is out on the floor to keep the bench unit competant. I see no reason for Bayless to drop from just below 20 minutes a game to 1.5 and 0 minutes in the last 2 games.

Well why not bring Wilt back from the dead? He could score in his prime.

Asking why Outlaw--who played almost exclusively PF minutes--being out doesn't mean more minutes for Bayless is a ridiculous question. They are totally unrelated events.

Saying that it "doesn't matter what position they play" is just silly.

I don't think there is much reason to conclude Outlaw would have made the difference in that game. Marvin Williams (+10 for the game) isn't the type of player that Travis would tend to dominate offensively, IMO. The offense was running pretty well in general, except for missed shots and turnovers, as was the defense. The Blazers were winning handily until the 4th, when fatigue, the refs, and Joe Johnson took over. It's just hard to predict the impact Travis is going to have until the game is played. I think Rudy in this game more than made up for the possibility that Travis might have hit some shots.

Side-bar: Joe Johnson took 31 shots in that game, and made only 13. It sucks for us he decided to "revert to the mean" at the end of the game.
