I remember reading somewhere about how Neil hasn't been sitting next to Paul since flipping off an unnamed Clippers personnel.

It made me start thinking about the possibility that the Clippers fabricated rumors about our interest in Deandre. Likely in an attempt to increase their leverage with another team.

I also wondered if this in some way screwed Neil on another deal. That maybe in doing so the Clippers also make it sound like we have more on the block than we actually intended. Realistically it would at the very least change the approach of trades for other teams, and that can be all it takes for a deal to go bad.

The Clippers are trying to blow it up and get as much as they can in return while keeping a team good enough to sell tickets. I would say we definitely have a motive for them.

Did I miss any news about this? What do you think?

All I can find is near the bottom of this page:

Somewhere along the way Neil flipped off Blake Griffin in the middle of a game and then kicked his dog. The guy is a bum.

I had assumed that was a joke. It was, right? Is that all you read?

Can’t find the thread it was posted in.

It’s been some time since president/basketball operations Neil Olshey has taken his customary seat alongside owner Paul Allen under the basket near the Blazers bench during games at Moda Center. The last time may have been Oct. 29, when the executive delivered a single-finger salute to someone associated with the Los Angeles Clippers — the intended recipient never has been officially revealed — from the seat after a 104-103 loss to the Clippers. Olshey was issued a warning from the league office after the incident, which was caught on video.

Team officials deny Olshey is under any punishment. Maybe he just found a better seat.

They sat together after Oct. 29. On Dec. 27, Canzano reported that Allen was getting antsy that the Blazers weren't winning enough games. Soon this board had a picture of Allen, Olshey, and McGowan sitting together at a game, the last 2 appearing tough and hard as if they were under evaluation from Allen. Where is that picture? I don't see it in the thread.

The Clipper incident involving Olshey is that he claims after Griffin hit a game winner against us that Olshey flipped off his "friend" behind the LAC bench who was a Clippers fan. Ever since Olshey says he watches games back in the film room because he gets too emotional during the game.

As for the DeAndre Jordan rumors, I'm sure Olshey contacted the Clippers about him. The asking price was said to be outrageous and Olshey moved on. The Clippers probably leaked interest in Jordan to up his value but were left holding the bag after the Cavs moved on and made trades elsewhere. I don't think there was some big conspiracy here though.

Not sure if DJ would be considered a good fit for Portland. His upside is his D and the fact that he's really good with running the court and the alley-oops/lob city thing. I don't see the latter as something we could offer; would take a PG that is truly an assist machine to accommodate that (which Dame isn't). That leaves the D factor, but I think ours has been good enough this season that we don't need a major upgrade.

At the same time, I think any team in the association would consider him as an upgrade.
