I’ll indulge you, Nate. I was tepid on the trade at best when it happened mostly due to his age, contract and the fact that he was coming off a down year.
If he were younger, the down year wouldn’t have been that big of a deal. But you don’t see it happen very often when an older productive player has a down year and then comes back to near all-star form.
Jrue brining a pro’s pro mentality and proven leader was the good part of the trade along with getting Simons out the door. That, I can say was the good part at the time. So, no, I wasn’t expecting him to look this good this year and I’m pleasantly surprised by how well he’s producing. He’s absolutely solid and has been our best or, at worst, second best player.
