Wes Matthews seeking 15 Million Dollar contract (yearly)

In the NFL he would be paid much less and his position is equilvelent to a wide reciever IMO. After injury, lets guess 2-3 million a year. When Antoine Boldin left The Ravens in 012 he wanted 6 mil and the guy was a SB super star without injury. Chance of injuries are higher due to the physicality of the game and condition of the field. In the NBA, players are on the court less minutes and usually sustain injuries from their own moves. The NBA player is way overpaid and thats due to a great union negotiation and contract. Citizens pay more $$$$ for NFL gear and tickets. Most people (that I know) can ignore the NBA until the fourth Q and finals. It amazes me that these players can fetch over 10 mil even after an injury season.

Got to admire the confidence but got to hate his lack of reality.
I think the term reality for you is that he is damaged goods and does not count that important parameter in his contract process.

You can pretty much ignore a football game until the last 2 minutes if it's a good ending.

Even then, it's a boring sport.

Sure but the nfl has massive rosters in comparison to nba rosters. So it has to be spread out more. Guys like Aaron Rodgers and Andrew luck could theoretically make more currently (might change next year due to massive increase in cap) and the nfl has signing bonuses

That sentence sounds strange to old ears. Football has reversed itself. They said they would copy basketball, and they surprisingly pulled it off.

Do you really think Football is a boring sport? Well, we all have opinions. College football is excellent.
I have been a Ravens fan for years and their games are usually close and offer everything a fan wants. We hardly ever get blown out. It is rare. Our Steeler rival games are classic and a gem for TV. Browns and Bengals are also gut wrenching as well as a meritous mention of the the playoff games with New England. All in all I like football with the NBA in third place behind hockey. I really think Olympic curling and golf are utterly boring.

The NFL is a billion dollar enterprise while I believe the NBA does not have the marketing potential to make huge money. Once baseball was Americas game but now the NFL rules the field. All of a sudden the Joe Flacco 120 mil deal is in the middle of the pack. Also guareenteed money is a vital parameter.

To be frankly honest, sports have become much less a part of my life in the last few years. But even when I was really into sports, NFL was extremely boring.

And players in the NFL play, like, 8* games a season, vs 82 in the NBA.

*Hyperbole

+> To each his own. I use it to disperse pent up anger issues or to simulate tribal mannerisms. :smiley-yikes:
