Everyone is talking about who we can sign this offseason, but what if we just stand pat this year, and wait until 2010, if Roy and Aldridge make an average of 12 million each that year, wouldn't that put our total team salary at around 40 million? That's enough to sign someone to a max contract, with money left over to fill the team in with other scrubs.

The 2010 free agent class is better than this year's class

Joe Johnson, Paul Pierce, Lebron James, Rudy Gay, Ginobili. Even if we miss the boat this year, and don't get anyone signed, we'll still have a good shot in 2010 right?

Joe Johnson would be sick. I think the issue would be if the contracts we sign people to this year were longer than just one year. I'm sure other people would have better info.

Greg and Joel add another $14 mil, and Martell another $5 mil. Then there is $2 mil for Jerryd and $1 mil each for Rudy and Nic. That's $47 million total, for just 8 guys. Add in another 6 scrubs at $1 mil each, and you are up to $52 million.

This team is going to be well up against the salary cap if KP extends LaMarcus and Brandon ... and it's not like he can keep the cap room by just putting off extending them and making them restricted free agents; each will have a sizable caphold equal to 300% of the coming year's salary.

If he's planning to sign free agents with salary greater than the MLE or do lopsided trades then it's use it or lose it this off-season.
