This could be a player or front office person. Mine is someone I personally expected more from, not that he is to blame, maybe he's just not that good?

Mine is Freeland. He really has looked bad in the time he has been on the floor.

Mine has been Freeland as well. He looked good in a few preseason games, so am realy not too sure what it is with him right now. He played smart in the preseason, showed he could shoot a little, and knew where to be. Then the lights turned brighter, and he's been terrible.

Mines freeland as well. Watching him overseas I thought his game would translate into the nba fairly well because of how close to the basket he liked to play. He cant play D and isnt good on O, maybe its just taking a long time to get adjusted to the NBA game but...

How about what Blazer are you most surprised by in a good way? Wes Matthews. He's playing GREAT.

Yeah Freeland has looked a little lost out there. But there is no doubt in my mind that he will get better with minutes. Because he can't get worse..

3 of the last 5 games.....0 minutes. Not saying he has earned them, but none-the-less it doesn't help him get comfortable out there.

He played 10 minutes yesterday and did absolutely nothing with them.

Surprised about: Wes (I knew Lillard was gonna be good)
Disappointed with: MaLarcus Aldrudge, the bench
Saw it coming: Meyers Leonard

freeland and claver i thought would at least be decent 8/9 guys, but holy shit, they have been terrible

Small sample size because he has hardly played, but Nolan. I thought he'd be a decent contributor off the bench after his brief summer league performance.

Yes I know. I acknowledged that. He looked bad yesterday and has not earned more minutes. But consistent minutes is what it will take for him to get better. He has no clue about any of these guys he is guarding. He looks lost right now.

Good call. I didn't expect much from him, but I expected more from Smith than from Freeland, and a lot more than the nothing he's done.

Aldridge. His defense has been worse under Stotts, and he's been shooting nothing but long low-percentage jumpers. He needs to go back into the post.

If I were the opposing team's coach, Lillard, Batum and even Matthews come up on the scouting report before Aldridge. You let him take his contested 18 footers. The real danger from our team is getting killed with three pointers.

It's too bad, really. We finally have all this fantastic perimeter shooting and there's nobody in the middle to suck in the defense.

It's a tossup for me between Claver and Freeland ... I'm not so sure either guy will ever belong on an NBA court.

Okay, Freeland is the obvious choice, and he's just looked lost out there. But I think he's a decent enough positional defender, and I think he'll improve.
Claver hasn't been given a chance yet (although banking in a free throw is not a good sign). Basically both of them just look terrified. That's got to improve, you'd think. I mean, they're not doing things that I KNOW they can do - like hit free throws or wide open jump shots. That's just nerves.
So I'm going to go with Barton, because I expected him to be more... team oriented. And also because I was SUPER excited when we drafted him, so it would be hard for him to live up to it.

Pleasantly surprised: Pavlovic.
Wildly disappointed: that we have to play Pavlovic.

Freeland/ I never expected anything from Claver, but I had high hopes for Freeland.

Also Nolan a little bit. He sucked last year, but I was hearing all about how much he was working on things this offseason, but if anything, I think he sucks more this year.

I keep hearing things like this, people unhappy with Leonard, but I am very happywith what I have seen so far. I think there are some big differences on how some people here see ML. We all see to agree on most players, but not here. I think he is proving that he has the hustle, athletism, body and effort to become a good player. Sure, he is not good at much yet, but he seems to be learning and has tons of potential. He was drafted as a project, and he remains a project. The difference is, what I now see is a project with a great future.

I think this is a little harsh. I think he'll come around, and he hits shots that only one or two other bigs can hit. If anything I think the team relies too much on being able to dump it to him to bail them out with a long two. He can get buckets, but doesn't demand the rock. I'm sure it irks him to hear this kind of stuff, but the fact is all the players who were great at getting him the ball in positions to score - Andre, Camby and Rudy (yes Rudy) have been traded, and our new hotshot PG is a bit of a gunner.

Freeland, for sure, I thought he would be way better after watching him play vs USA in the Olympics.

And Barton, I thought he might overachieve without high expectations, and be a scoring threat off the bench.

Freeland has looked bad. So bad it's hard to imagine it's just a matter of getting used to the speed of the game. I thought he'd be a nice 4th big man, but he has looked lost.

We're kind of spoiled, though, that Batum, Wes and Lillard are all better than expected. It's almost worth it to have a bench that's so catastrophically bad (Jeffries excepted).

LaMarcus. Although I hope he snaps out of it. His play needs to be better.

I totally agree with this. So far I've been most impressed with the starting wings; all have exceeded my expectations, which makes me a little more hopeful for the future, because it should be a helluva lot easier to add some quality bench depth than it is to find adequate to good starters.

Now about that frontcourt ...

Freeland: looks like the Blazers brought in a local rec league player. Totally shocked at how out of place he looks.
Nolan: seemed like he was going to break through. Now it seems like he is one and done.
LMA: just not giving the effort I like to see. Maybe part of it is he knows this is a rebuilding year, but I would still like to see more. Also a bit afraid he won't be able to switch it back on in a year or two.

In order:

Smith (I thought he looked better than I thought he would in Summer League, turns out everyone else was just worse than I thought,)
Barton (See above)
Freeland (Dammit. Thought he was ready. I'd like to see him play more alongside LaMarcus or JJ, though, playing him with Meyers or Jeffries just isn't going to give him any hope of getting better)
Jeffries (Because he's playing at all, which means our bench sucks even bigger purple donkey balls than I thought they would)
Claver (More surprised than disappointed. I still have hope for him)

Nolan Smith . . . he has really thrown this team for a loop not even being able to back up Lillard with spot minutes. I'm guessing he is not looking good in practice either because why not play him instead of Price . .. can he be much worse?
