Unless this was done since he was married, who gives a flying fuck. And even then, who gives a Flying Nun.

"David Letterman told the audience of his late night talk show that he had sexual relationships with female members of his staff, and added he forked over a bogus $2 million check as part of an extortion plot on the matter."

Apparently he had to give grand jury testimony regarding his behavior. It's unclear at this point when the multiples sexual liasons took place.
What's great about this is how much fun Letterman has made of people like Mark Sanford, a fellow scuzball, or so it appears.
Well I could see how this was a proper analogy, if the affairs happened when David wasn't married...

Well, he did live with his wife for 20 years prior to marriage, and his son isn't exactly an infant.
Good for Dave. Living the moral high ground on air, but getting 'tang on the side with his employees. How elite of him.
Although I admit I didn't read the article thoroughly, we don't know how long ago the affairs took place.
He has been doing that show (in both forms) for what, 30 years now?
Has he been promoting family values? Has David been talking about his religious values, as a point of importance for his character?
I would bet a lot of people find more issues with the hypocrisy of Republicans who railed against Clinton for being sleazy, when they themselves cheated on their spouses. Or those who railed against homosexuality, and themselves took part in homosexual activities (even if they claim to be 'cured' now).
Was Dave claiming to be a man of virtue?
Like I said, I think most people who had issues with the R's who recently got caught cheating on wives, or fucking dudes in bathrooms or snortin crack off the schlong of some dude (or whatever it is Ted Haggard did), did so because they were hypocrites.

He made jokes about people caught in compromising positions regarding sex.
Are you one of his sons? Why waste the time defending some lame jokes about him?![]()

If the Rush Limbaughs, Sanfords, Haggard etc, would not have played the holier than thou card, not nearly as many people would care.
NEW YORK – Late-night hosts didn't waste a moment poking fun at the troubles of one of their own, after a CBS newsman was charged with trying to blackmail David Letterman for $2 million in a plot that forced the late-night comic to acknowledge having sex with some of the women who have worked for him.
The bizarre case has created a messy legal and professional problem for one of CBS' most valuable personalities. Commentators and bloggers quickly accused Letterman of hypocrisy because he has made a career of mocking politicians mercilessly, often for their sexual transgressions.
Robert J. "Joe" Halderman, a producer for the true-crime show "48 Hours Mystery," pleaded not guilty in a Manhattan court to one count of attempted first-degree grand larceny, punishable by five to 15 years in prison. Prosecutors said Halderman, who was released after posting $200,000 bail, was desperate and deep in debt.
Jay Leno, Letterman's longtime late-night rival, kicked off his monologue Friday on NBC: "If you came here tonight for sex with a talk show host, you've got the wrong studio."
On NBC's "Late Night," Jimmy Fallon also worked it into his monologue: "There's a new book out called "Why Women Have Sex" that says there are 237 reasons why women have sex. And folks, Letterman knows the top 10."...
