The conventional wisdom of the NBA, or at least I was lead to believe, is that the more aggressive team was usually rewarded for their play. Traditionally, the signs of the more aggressive team are things like points in the paint and rebounds. So let's just take a look.
Points in the paint
Blazers 48
Warriors 36
Rebounds
Blazers 46 (15 Offensive)
Warriors 40 (13 Offensive)
We also lead in blocks (6 to 5), assists (16 to 13), and FG% (47 to 40).
If you tell me that we play the warriors and we out-shoot them, have more assists, blocks, boards and points in the paint then they do, I say we win; right?
Wrong.
Personal Fouls
Blazers 32
Warriors 18
Free Throw Attempts
Blazers 17
Warriors 43 (!!!)
I don't want this to become my OMFG WE LOST BECAUSE OF THE REFS post, but correct me if I'm wrong: the ENTIRE third quarter consisted of both teams attacking the hoop. Every time the blazers went inside, we got hacked and there was no call. Every time the warriors got bumped, we were called for a foul. It just seems... off. We were attacking and weren't getting equal treatment. This was one of the more unevenly called games since the LAST time we played in Golden State, it seems.
And no, I'm not going to say that this loss was due to turnovers. Yes, we had a lot, but how many of those were on offensive fouls? Or even on flops by Maggette alone? Is there a box score out there that counts offensive fouls? I would like to know.
That's all.
