The conventional wisdom of the NBA, or at least I was lead to believe, is that the more aggressive team was usually rewarded for their play. Traditionally, the signs of the more aggressive team are things like points in the paint and rebounds. So let's just take a look.

Points in the paint

Blazers 48
Warriors 36

Rebounds

Blazers 46 (15 Offensive)
Warriors 40 (13 Offensive)

We also lead in blocks (6 to 5), assists (16 to 13), and FG% (47 to 40).

If you tell me that we play the warriors and we out-shoot them, have more assists, blocks, boards and points in the paint then they do, I say we win; right?

Wrong.

Personal Fouls

Blazers 32
Warriors 18

Free Throw Attempts

Blazers 17
Warriors 43 (!!!)

I don't want this to become my OMFG WE LOST BECAUSE OF THE REFS post, but correct me if I'm wrong: the ENTIRE third quarter consisted of both teams attacking the hoop. Every time the blazers went inside, we got hacked and there was no call. Every time the warriors got bumped, we were called for a foul. It just seems... off. We were attacking and weren't getting equal treatment. This was one of the more unevenly called games since the LAST time we played in Golden State, it seems.

And no, I'm not going to say that this loss was due to turnovers. Yes, we had a lot, but how many of those were on offensive fouls? Or even on flops by Maggette alone? Is there a box score out there that counts offensive fouls? I would like to know.

That's all.

The refs always screw us over when we play at GS. Remember that November game at Oracle Arena when Rudy's jersey fouled Morrow? What it is about that arena or city?

Thank god for the all-star break and a chance for all of our key guys to get some much needed R&R .after that demoralizing debacle ... oh, wait? Nevermind.

Ugh, you said it.

Oden, Rudy, Roy....

My biggest frustration is not over losing, but the fact the NBA does not care enough to fix their flaws. And Flopping continues to be a major one. It cheapens the game and they do nothing. Or at least this little prick (Ron Garretson)decided to do nothing.

That last offensive foul against LaMarcus where he fouled out was complete and utter bullshit.

...I just got home after missing every second of the streaming broadcast, looked at the boxscore, and I was going to ask, HOW THE HELL DID THE BLAZERS LOSE THIS GAME?!?!?!

Any stat heads out there want to scroll through every boxscore this season and compare single team FTA's?!?!?! This has to be one of the highest regulation game totals!!! Wow...is Sheed still stalking the refs in the parking lot or what?!?!?!

GO ODEN, GO RUDY, GO ROY...set the desert on fire, Blazer style!!!

Well, despite an emphasis on cracking down on flopping, obviously the most important people to send that memo to didn't get it. Somewhere Vlade Divac was smiling and laughing.

maybe its our big men...and not the refs....ever think of that?

even if it were our bigs (although there were some obvious flops by maggette) our treatment on the offensive side of the court was atrocious. We would have to get our heads cut off before there was a call made on one play LMA got two or so offensive rebounds and put it up twice both times getting raped going up before the ball went in and got no call from the refs it was borderline retarded

That game was bullshit. I can take losses fine, so long as the game was fair. That game was not called fairly at all.

Fucking ridiculous. I can't believe it's 3 AM and I'm still pissed over it.

agreed. going to work now and am still pissed about it.
oh that and the fucking weather NOAA people said 6-10 inches for hood tonight and voila, as usual, they were fucking wrong. so blazers lose and no freshies. its a fucking travesty.

This is the 2nd game this year when after the first 5 minutes I didn't believe we had any chance to win because of the officials. It was very obvious that one team was going to be allow to (literally) grab heads... and the other team was going to be called for touch fouls. You can't compete against that.

What is funny to me is that obviously... you never see flopping in a pickup game. You also don't see intentional fouls (unless you want a fight). To me, using the officials to try to win something instead of your skills... is very weak. It is sad that it is so accepted in the NBA. One step closer to professional wrestling.

I agree! Flopping to me should be left to those with little other basketball skill. Maggette is too talented a player to have to resort to this. I was complaining all night about him flopping. I thought the refs had caught on to his there for a while. He tried it a few times in the 4th and they didn't go for it. Then that terrible call on LMA.

The bullshit call of where Stephen Jackson intentionally fouled Oden and then Oden got called for an offensive foul instead was the topper.
