Over the last ten games:
21 mpg
35.5% FG
1-16 (!) 3-pointers
1-2 FTs (in 8 games total!)
5 points, 2.2 rbs per game

He's gone totally to shit! Is this just about the demotion from the starting lineup? Has he been injured?

Hes thinking about how hes gonna sign with the Warriors or Cavs this summer.

I know +- isn't much of anything but I believe he has the highest on the team in the last 5 games that he has played. That is something at least.

So imo it is mostly lack of minutes but that is to be expected as he is coming off injury.

And yes, he definitely plays better as starter then bench guy.

He realized the was the only summer signing that seemed somewhat palatable. Subconsciously he decided he had to revert to mean and suck like the rest of the guys.

If the past has anything to do with it he has never took demotion very well.

It might be time to trade him while he still has value.

Olshey's acquisitions seem to follow a familiar pattern: he finds a cheap player in the scrapheap, they overperform, then they get over-paid, either by us or somebody else. Then their play regresses to the norm.
See:
Lopez, Robin
Davis, Ed
Aminu, Al-Farouq
Harkless, Mo
Meanwhile Mason Plumlee is still overperforming because he hasn't got paid yet.

Harkless is weird. He was actually the one re-sign that looked like a steal during the first two months because he added a real three-point shot. He was hovering around 37% through December. That, combined with solid defense, made him a valuable two-way player. But his shot has been trending downwards and has completely collapsed now. So now he, too, is starting to look like an overpay (though not an egregious one, at least).

Nothing has happened to him.
He's at best an average NBA role player.

And why the hell shouldn't he? After all he is coming from a development Blazers team. Maybe he's ready to move on to the big boy teams!

Meanwhile, Aminu's shot, which always looks so much worse than Harkless's, has crawled back to semi-respectable territory (12-37 over past ten games).

He's pouting because he isn't starting. Pulled the same shit last year. He only plays his hardest when he's starting. He gets benched, he loses focus and pouts.

Hey Mo, want to start? Try playing like you deserve to be. It's not like we have a stacked roster full of all stars playing ahead of you. You don't even need to be an average NBA player to crack this starting line up, just don't totally suck (like you are right now) and the job will be yours.

Harkless missed a few games and lost his starting job. His last 4 games off the bench after coming back he has been
3-6, 1-5, 5-10, 5-9...averaging around 22 minutes a game. That is fine for a bench player. He is just not versatile enough to be a starter.

You could say the same thing about 87% of our roster. Herein lies the problem...

The comedian/podcaster Marc Maron used to have this great joke about the Devil. A crappy musician make a deal with the devil for fame and success and signs his soul away, the Devil comes back the next night at midnight and says, "Sorry dude, I did the best I could but you're just not talented enough. Here's your soul back and don't tell anyone about this." That's kind of the problem with a lot of our lineup.... they are just not talented enough (Harkless included.) The expectations we had for them both collectively and individually, were too high.

I feel bad for him because he was one of the guys that came out to play from day one. Some of his teammates didn't. I think some of the problems this team has is it has players that don't want to be here and or don't like their roles. And they're not focused on whatever goal they have. Now It's starting to mestastasize to the rest of the team.

To me there is lots of paralylls between this team and the 14-15 team. That team was disappointing after a nice post season push. This one is headed that same direction.

He's not pouting, that's just how his face looks.
