What happens if lebron decides to stay in CLEV

Well, since he will stay in "CLEV" and not come to the Nets, than I don't know.

The Nets will give KVH the max contract they've been saving for him.

But seriously, they could just continue to try to add solid pieces to the core, maybe take on a bad salary for a year and get an extra couple of picks.

Smart move.

We'll just have to settle on taking Bosh I guess.

Oh, ahaha. That would never happen. If Bosh ever became a Net, I would forever become a Nets fan, run naked in to the Izoid center, my body covered in a pinted Nets jersey screaming "TORONTO SUCKS".

Then we'll save the money for somebody else, either in 2010 or down the road.

I love how you guys make it sound like every one of those players will opt out and look for new teams. Do you know how many players just resign with their current teams and it's no big deal. When the Magic traded Steve Francis for a bunch of cap room a couple years ago, everyone thought we'd have a shot at landing a huge player like Melo, Bosh, Billups, Carter, or Lewis. All of those guys except Lewis resigned with their original teams. For all you guys know, all of those guys will stay with their teams and you'll have to pursue role players. I'm just saying, don't make it sound like you have all the options in the world and you'll just have to settle on a lesser young superstar. It may not be that easy.

I believe ZAE was being facetious.

The only way he stays in CLE is if they win a championship, and thats not going to happen in the next 2 years, other than maybe in NBA 2k8.

OR unless Memphis gets conned into trading away Gay for garbage like the Gasol scandal.

Bosh would be a waste of cap space, but maybe, maybe, he could be a decent back-up behind Sean Williams

edit: of course if we really can't get Lebron...

I wouldn't be surprised if they don't. LeBron is their best bet but if he stays in Cleveland, they'll be in trouble. Most superstar players resign with their original teams because they already have their homes, family, and support in the city that they've played in for the last five years.

Well you might as well start running now.

Maybe the Nets will trade Carter to the Raps in a S&T for Bosh, then we can sign LBJ too.

Maybe LeBron, Wade, Bosh, and Amare will all sign for the minimum because they want to win some titles. And then the Magic will trade Dwight for Vince Carter and fillers and then they'll trade some of their cheerleaders for Kobe since the Lakers want some new Laker girls so the Nets will have a super team of:

Dwyane Wade
Kobe Bryant
LeBron James
Amare Stoudemire
Dwight Howard

It could happen.

Unlike previous superstars, these guys purposely signed contracts with opt out provisions to give them ultimate flexibility.

But wait, Orlando fans wanted Vince at some point?

I thought the purpose of those contracts was so they could opt out for more money with a new CBA.

And the teams that can give them the most money are the teams that they are playing for....

Exactly. And no, Orlando fans were 100% against getting Vince but Otis Smith considered making an offer for awhile. The two teams even tried to work out a trade last season but it fell apart (thank God).

That was certainly a major part of the reasoning, but it was also about giving the players total control.

All one of these players has to say is that they want to play on another team as a FA and their original team will be willing to work out an S&T which gives the player the max money they can get.

Welcome to the S2 Nets board! Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about the site. Welcome, we're glad to have you brother!

Brooklyn = possibility

Brand new franchise in New York City. This isn't Charlotte or Orlando, it's New York.

you guys do realise all this pining for LeBron, who is two years away from free agency, makes Nets fans sound like 15 yr old girls with a crush on some actor/singer right?

p.s. do you all have his picture in your locker at school
