There's lots of discussion about how accepting people are of losses this year, so I thought it might be a good idea to just have a poll in which people can definitively identify their place on the continuum. Please note that I don't expect my list of poll options to be comprehensive, so feel free to comment on variations or gradations that should be included. I'm more than willing to modify the poll as needed.

82-game preseason; wins and losses basically don't count this year in my mind. The player we draft will either suck outright, or will be awesome except for that one fatal flaw that keeps us from truly competing on the big stage, so I don't give a fuck which pick we get.

I hovered between "I root for the win, but dont mind if we lose" and "W/L are irrelevant"... Because, well, it's true. lol.

I guess the way that I look at it, I'm some mix of "rooting for them to win, not upset when they lose" and "wins/losses are irrelevant as long as we're developing."

If our guys are developing, wins will come along organically. If we're getting absolutely destroyed, that means the development isn't coming along as quickly, which is fine, but it also means that we're further away from being back in the mix and it will take more to get us back to where we were.

At this point though, I think the draft is most likely our best chance at adding another foundation player.

Basically this. Beat the Lakers, beat the Spurs (oh well) and then everyone else, play well and if we lose we lose.

Why isn't there an All Of The Above option?

How about: "I love close games because they are fun to watch, but losing them is like the icing on the cake" ?

Actually, I'm always pissed right after the losses, but let some hours pass and I'm happy to be closer to a top pick.

I don't believe in tanking you go out to win every game. But if we loose then you take it and try to get better next time out. This year is about who we keep next year. Plus see who develop through out the season and who going be more consistent throughout the year those players you keep.

Same here. And, from the looks of it, we weren't the only ones.

Ive thought about this alot the last couple of days. I think this is a bit off. No... W/L are not as important, but I dont think its irrelevant if we lose.

I think losing builds a negative psychy regardless of what your trying to do ( Win, develop, lose, etc.)

I was concerned after Dallas that the guys would start getting down on themselves. The post game interviews help me squash that concern a bit, but Losses can affect confidence especially in a younger player. The one downfall about losing is these guys regress due to lost confidence. I dont want to see that either.

Eh, once we start winning in 2 years regularly it'll be okay.

Eh, once we start winning in 2 months regularly it'll be okay.

I fixed that for ya. ;)

Winning regularly seems to be held up by fourth quarter lack of execution for various reasons. I am hoping we turned the corner on that last night and winning regularly comes sooner than later. We have been very competetive this year with playoff caliber opponents... except the first 5 minutes and last 5 minutes.

I wonder if the poll results would be the same if we just lost to Indiana

You mean when the game matters?

You're optimism is noted.

But we're not having many games like last night.

It's okay to be patient. We don't have a playoff team this year. Nothing wrong with that. (I do realize you're probably going to change it to say "we have a playoff team this year. Nothing wrong with that.) ;)

No changes ...THIS TIME. ;)

But you do know if we would have pulled the Dallas game out... that we won overall except for when it counts that we would be the tied for the 8th seed? I think we can turn the corner sooner than later on how to close games out and if so, I dont see why we cant make the playoffs if the team stays healthy.

Your just playing the role of Debbie Downer right now and I know your foolin with me because youve already made it clear your in a wait and see mode.

I think that tanking per se, where you're looking to the lottery to get players to be the core of the Lillard era Blazers, probably isn't a large part of Olshey's plan. The goal that’s been expressed is to get guys on the same career arc as Dame. Even the best draft picks take a few years to develop. I think the plan involves trades and free agency to get more established players. Not to say that a top pick doesn't factor in either as a trade asset or a longer term investment to be a key player a few years down the line. But I'm of the opinion that the Blazers are looking to be back in the playoff mix next year, not 2 to 3 years down the road.

This!!!.

10 likes for you sir!

My acceptance is at a "I want Ben Simmons but I doubt the team will end up with him, so lord please let him not go to the Lakers or Houston" level.
