Since Ted Stevens won last night (or will, whatever), he's not going to serve in the Senate for another term. He's a convicted felon...he will be expelled.
Sarah Palin will appoint the new Senator. If she wants to run in 2012 or 2016, she should think about appointing herself, work on major legislation like Sen. McCain (and unlike President Obama), and develop a niche for foreign affairs.
If she can't appoint herself, then she should step down with the agreement with the lieutenant governor would appoint her. The lieutenant governor is Sean Parnell, a Republican. He ran against Don Young, another corrupt jackass in the Ted Stevens mold, for Alaska's congressional seat. He lost by 300 votes. He obviously wants higher office, and would certainly return the favor for Palin if she wants to go to Washington.
Or she could just stay in Juneau and govern and run again in 2012.
Thoughts?
