What the eff is Cashamn thinking?

Acquiring Dustin Ackley from Seattle for RHP Jose Ramirez & OF Ramon Flores.

Ackley has a .215 BA this year, career (584 games) of .243… 6 HR this year, career 42 since 2011… Defensively plays 1st, 2nd, and all 3 OF spots. Flores batted .286 w/ 7 HR & 34 RBI so far this year, Ramirez had a 2.90 ERA for Scranton in 32 relief appearances and a 1.27 WHIP… I don’t mind giving up these two, but for another Drew? I don’t get it… I’m scratching my head here…

Also rumored was this: http://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/801721 that the Yankees might try to acquire Craig Kimbrel from the Padres… but then I saw this: http://www.thescore.com/news/801490 which was reported earlier...

Also rumored is the Yankees are aggressively pursuing Reds closer Chapman: http://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/801726

They need starters not relievers IMO…

A bullpen of that quality would be impressive, but you need to get to the pen in the first place... and especially in the post season...

I'm at a loss for words for these moves...

what da efff is all u, well not all u'z, thinkin???????

this post is NOT intended to provoke, agitate, nor does it require a personal attack, and in no way do i feel i am a no it all... BUT, cashman, is the money coming out of his pocket? NO!!!!!! he has to ask permission on what money he is to spend, YES????? the dude is a pawn like all the coaches... c'mon. rememeber when ralph got caught for the second time in his supervisors office after he lied about being one in the episode with the plumber, who who plumbed? steinbrenner!!!!!! he's the man!!!

Just saw this: http://bronxpinstripes.com/news-rumors/yankees-deadline-news-and-notes/

In there: July 31, 10:00 AM: Jon Heyman of CBS Sports is saying that the Yankees might be getting tired of waiting for San Diego to make up it’s mind on Kimbrel. New York could be turning their attention to Miami, and their stud reliever Carter Capps. New York continues to monitor Chapman.

But the more confusing: "July 31, 8:13 AM: It seems as if the the Yankees are going for bullpen help rather than starting pitching at the moment..."

What the hell are you talking about????

I didn't talk about money at all... I didn't bring it up here, don't see the need to do so........

Ralph? plumber? What are you talking about? Do we need to refer you to a methadone clinic? Cause that makes no sense...

Maybe part of Cashman's plan is to only have his starters go 4 innings & have this super bullpen cover the last 5 innings. Who knows with this clown.

ok, so let me get this straight, u are home stricken, you have a caretaker, you give the care taker the money to go to store to buy groceries.... you tellin me u r not going to instruct the caretaker on what to buy?

i dont get it, some of you blame cashman for the players the team has, but you dont blame girardi for the performances of the player? very confused!

buying does not equal trading... I'm not making issues with new contracts right now... some have been horrendous, but I'm just talking here about these trades... not talking about the money being taken on or exchanged for the trade... JUST THE PLAYERS INVOLVED.... I don't get why you can't see I am not talking about the money...

NOT TALKING ABOUT MONEY...

Let me guess Steve....................................................................you're NOT talking about the money right?

...so using your pretzel logic, there's really no need for a GM at all, right?

Ackley's someone who I think needs a big change of scenery to become a very useful player.

Yeah, his numbers suck (especially this year), ...he's been played opposite platoon splits, moved around the lineup and the bench, basically lost a bunch of confidence. Even though he's an extreme second-half player for goodness knows why.

I don't know anything about your players coming back, but I think you got a steal on a buy-low candidate. And if you're just going to park him at 2nd (where he earned a gold glove) you will probably like what you see, and especially if he tunes his stroke to pull more. I would not be surprised to see .280 with 12-15 homers in a full year, which with GG defense is nothing to sneeze at at all.

Good to hear, thanks for the input Brian... Ramon Flores was probably ranked higher than Ramirez, but neither were in the top 10-15 in our rankings... that being said, we have a couple of 2B down there who are and are close... so this move coupled with that makes no sense and cuts the feet out from under them...

and he's in no way, shape or form like Drew, other than being really good at D. I've seen both, and while Drew sucks at hitting and has for 5 years, Ack has a bit of power, an above-average hit tool and needs some consistent ABs.

good to know

Ackleys shit went into the wind when Cano arrived. I'd guess he could play in place of Drew or Garret Jones both whom I'd like o see gone. What is mystifying Yankee Fans is that Cashman is shopping for ground beef instead of steak.

Well, that may be where having his versatility helps. He can play CF in an emergency, and he played 1B in college (though I know you have a ton of 1b/dh types), but if you have a stud 2B coming up you can do what Lloyd tried and failed to do...keep him employed hitting the ball by moving him around the diamond and corners against righties.

Update:

July 31, 12:05 PM: On MLB Network, Jon Morosi of FOX Sports reported that the Arizona Diamondbacks appear that they will not acquire Cincinnati Red’s closer Aroldis Chapman at the moment.

Morosi also added that the Yankees could jump in and acquire the closer before Friday’s trade deadline.

With the Yankees currently waiting on the San Diego Padres regarding Craig Kimbrel, the Bronx Bombers might jump on the opportunity to add Chapman at the right price. Along with Chapman and Kimbrel, the Yankees continue to be linked to Miami Marlins reliever Carter Capps.

July 31, 10:54 AM: As the Yankees continue to monitor the trade market for possible bullpen help, one possible trade candidate is not likely to be traded to the Bronx.

According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the Yankees have checked in on Cincinnati Reds’ closer Aroldis Chapman, but a deal is “not likely” to happen. As the team reportedly is tired of waiting for San Diego in regards to Craig Kimbrel, the Yankees could turn their attention to other relievers as the trade deadline quickly approaches.

July 31, 10:53 PM: As of this morning, the Yankees were linked to Miami Marlins reliever Carter Capps, as he could become an option for the club if a deal for Craig Kimbrel does not happen.

Although the Yankees continue to say that they will not trade any of their top prospects, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com points out that the Marlins covet one of these guys the Yankees are unwilling to part with:

It’s still very unlikely that the club will part with Bird, but it will be interesting to monitor what the Marlins’ asking price will be for their young dominant reliever.

...during the 2 years (2012 2014) Ackley got full time ABs (over 1200) his BA was about .235 during those years with an OBP of .295....he's simply a very mediocre player who's also arby eligible next year.

I wonder if Girardi has ever wanted to take Cashman out behind the stadium and give him a royal ass kicking. Saw a game photo of CC from last nights game, looked like a whipped dog. Need a starter and Cashman talks relievers. I can't figure why the Yankees need another closer especially pedigree types unless there is a plan to move them somewhere else when acquired.

If this be true, please sell team already, cause no one in org has clue

I have no issue with a reliever if it moves Warren back to the rotation. That would actually be a move that makes sense at this point.
