I believe the Lakers will need to find a taker for him if they want to resign Dwight Howard.

I would love Pau Gasol on our team. He's way better than Gortat, McGee, and Jordan. The guy had a triple double with 20 rebounds this season. Had a few other triple doubles too. He also can be a good defender (not always) but his defensive rebounding can control games. And of course, his passing is incredible and he would get Aldridge some alley oop dunks playing high low like Camby did. So what would I give up for Pau? I'd be willing to part with #10. We'd have to give up more though, right? His contract pays him like $19 million. If we could get Pau, sign two decent bench FAs, and Lillard improves, that could make us a contender next season.

Lillard/Wes/Batum/Aldridge/Pau is a very very good team.

If the Lakers amnestied him and he signed for about 4 million.

Otherwise, not with a 10 foot pole (ironically, that wasn't HCP's nickname in high school)

How smooth would Gasol and LMA be? Ha-hah....would love to see.

I'd give them joel freeland for gasols massive contract. Would let us roll our capspace over to next year as well and if LA wants out we could trade him and then have massive massive capspace in 2014.

Does that work cap wise? Just giving them Freeland? And would we be able to sign anyone else? The MLE I guess?

We need more than just freeland. We would need at least a 12 mil contract and our cap space

Still not enough. I thought we already released Jeffries cause our deadline was a week after the season or something.

We did.

I was pretty much just saying I'd give them shit for him, because I'm not in favor of making life easy for them.

A 30-something declining big with tendinitis in both knees on a $20m/per deal?

I'm sure the Lakers would love to dump his contract on Portland.

Another desperate move.

I would French kiss HCP for Pau Gasol. If I absolutely had to.

It seems to me that the only viable way to make a deal for Pau would be by using a sign-and-trade with Hickson and Freeland going to the Lakers. The Blazers then would only have to match within 125% of Pau's salary.

Nothing but a small amount of P.A.'s money. Lakers would have to amnesty his contract and then, he'd be worth about $5/year for 2 years for us. He's OLD (for a player) and isn't part of our future planning.
He's not good enough any more to single handedly take a team to the playoffs.

Wake me if LAL uses the amnesty on him, otherwise, let me rest!!!!

He wouldn't be doing it single handedly in Portland. He'd have Lillard and Aldridge. And then hopefully, Leonard is ready after Pau retires.

I wouldn't want to pay Pau's current contract but I do think he has value.

He might rejuvenate here, new situation, etc. and I think he still has a lot of game.

It would be nice if Pau was amnestied and we were able to pick him up. I just don't think the Lakers will do it though. I think he still holds value and could be a 3rd choice for team's with cap space and young talent. I'm thinking Washington would give up okafor for him.
