What would you think it would take to get Al Horford?

I know there is a slim to none chance; but I was just wondering what players (other than Aldridge) that could land Horford. Maybe even think of a third team.

I think Atlanta would like to go full and proper rebuild; so they want to tank and grab a good core of players for next summer's draft. Their pick should be a good one, since losing Horford would almost guarantee them being in the lotto.

I was thinking of using Houston as they trade Asik.

I think pairing Aldridge with Horford would be enough to keep Aldridge in Portland, IMO.

This was something I did on the fly.

This would save us another 2 mil in salary.

I think it would take Lillard, to which I would say hell no!!

Reportedly one of the reasons Budenholzer really wanted the job in Atlanta was because he sees Horford is a lot like Duncan. I doubt they want to give away a top 10 player in my eyes.

You think they would reach that high? I was thinking matthews and Batum could do it.

I think ATL sees him as the face of their franchise. They wanna keep him for the long haul unless a sweeheart of a deal falls in their lap, I'm guessing.

I don't blame them. Horford is a beast. Just wished we could pair horford and Aldridge. That would be a hell of a front court!

And you think that's better than my Blazers\Bulls\Rockets trade?

Damian and that would make PDX a heck of team even with our new rookie PG.

To answer the question, trades of top players almost always happen because the player either will or might leave. Horford's camp would have to start acting like Aldridge's camp.

IF Atlanta were going to trade Horford to pursue a rebuild, I think any trade package from us would have to start with CJ and MyLe. This deal would be (I would think) at least enough to pique their interest.

However, I get the feeling based on their signings of Millsap and Brand that they're not really looking to rebuild right now, so this is silly to even discuss.

Dammit! I forgot about that! Yeah talk about pipe dream. I'm just goo goo over Horford and Aldridge. Oh well....

Might be a good place to revisit next year though. If Atlanta fails in this retool, then Horford might be available as a last attempt to pair up something with Aldridge.

I have a better question. Does exchanging whomever it would take to trade for Horford make us a title contender?

It depends on who the "whomever" is.

I think this is accurate.

I think even Lillard, Aldridge and Noah could make us one too. I see Aldridge as the catalyst or bridge to success. Losing him will be a huge blow to our chances.

It would take an All Star big. Think about it what would it take for the Blazers to trade Aldridge. Al Horford is Atlanta's best player and they wont give him up for a couple of good players. They probably want a great player just like we would.

Yet its okay for us to trade our "all-star" big? Total contradiction.

I think "Larry Sanders" maybe able to be had if we offer the right pieces. Maybe even doing a three way with Detroit so they get Monroe.

If only we had those pieces

We could have those pieces because Detroit needs a SF or SG that can score. Milwaukee would like a SG that can defend. I think sending Milwaukee Matthews and Batum to Detroit, could send Sanders to us.

Right now we have one primary issue: Whether or not there is anything the Blazers can do to get LA to stay. If we can, then we can think about loading up. If not, then we need to plan our rebuild. Losing LA would be a massive blow, and he would have to be replaced with more than one player. He's arguably the best PF in the league, and players with his unique skill set don't grow on trees.

I agree. Adding sanders, horford or even Drummond would be enough in my opinion. He needs a ying for his yang on the front line. That's why I'm so meh about Leonard. He doesn't solve the ying issue with Aldridge; which will only result with Aldridge being moved.
