CNN headline: http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/07/30/harvard.arrest.beers/index.html

Obama, Biden, prof, cop sit down over brews

Fox Headline http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/07/30/obama-takes-swig-black-scholar-white-cop/

Obama Takes a Swig With Black Scholar, White Cop

Notice the difference of these headlines?

It's pretty obvious the GOP is trying to reverse the race card on Obama and that is their agenda. Not get something done. Sling mud.

By the way, that is also why you are not in control of the oval office. Because you just don't get it.

Few things: one, I'm not sure the online editor who wrote that title at Fox speaks for the GOP. Or vice versa.
Two, since this story was very much about race, I don't see it as "revers(ing) the race card". It's a continuation of the story.
Third, what's "mudslinging" about the title? Was the cop not white? Was the scholar not black? Did the President not have a beer with them?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/07/30/AR2009073003563.html?hpid=artslot First line:
Two weeks after a noted black scholar accused a white police sergeant of racial profiling for arresting him at his home near Harvard University, the men hoisted mugs of beer Thursday evening at the White House with President Obama and Vice President Biden.
Are the NYT and WP mouthpieces of the GOP as well, for bringing up race and politics?

One is funny, one is boring.

This story was about race to begin with, wasn't it? Now that the backlash, they're playing it down now?

Fox news used a derogatory term, at least some take it that way.

I have heard of officers of the law that don't like the term cop.

Fucking fox news calling pigs cops. Pricks!

CNN is all BS (Beer Summit) all the time these days.

You'd think they'd be covering actual news or important news, like Congress failing to bring health care to a vote before their august break.

Or maybe that's the intent - to distract from this failure or Obama's plummet in the polls. I think it's quite likely.

On the other hand, they're sure stirring up this race thing for all the air time they can. All over a very minor and hardly newsworthy event.

I'm talking AC 360 last night, the all night shows, the morning show (so far).

I think if one actually sees a difference, then one is inclined to try and find racial politics in just about everything- including their morning bowl of oatmeal.

Soon, the headlines will be chasing you. Run! Run, little fawn! Run!

Huh? Where's the "mud slinging"? I don't see it. In fact, one could argue that FOX is going against stereotypes by reminding everyone that the black man is a "scholar," and the white man is just an ordinary "cop." That's something that CNN didn't even think to do.
