Suppose you were hired as Blazers coach and told that whatever happens, you will not be fired before the end of the season, but you will not be brought back next season. The FO is completely hands off, you can play who you like whatever minutes you like. What would be your favored lineup?

I think most of us would include Clingan, Toumani and Avdija in it. But who else? I'm going to go with Sharpe and... Kris Murray. Who's PG? Well, it's split between Shaedon and Deni. But we're going to commit full-on to being a top defensive team, and to giving Sharpe carte blanche on offense. And apart from Clingan, we're pretty much positionless - endless switching.

In my lineups I will only play one sub-par defender at a time. So Anfernee only gets to play when Sharpe is sitting, and Scoot gets to prove he can play defense in the G-League.

Scoot
Sharpe
Camara
Deni
Clingan
Agree 80%! In fact, I suspect we're all going to agree on that same 80% - it's the fifth player that's the issue. (So maybe a separate question would be: who's our dream 5th starter? I'd like to think maybe Dylan Harper but I'd ideally like somebody who is a better defender and passer. And anyway, I want to enjoy the team for the rest of THIS season.)

The BlazerSurprise YouTube guys had some interesting comments last night talking about if the Blazers drafted Harper. Would it be better to have both Ant and Scoot off this roster so nobody is interfering with Harper role or development?

Guess it depends if your a Scoot believer, or believe he's a lost cause.

Given his age and experience with the Ignite, I’m willing to see it out. I would definitely draft a point guard without hesitation if he were the BPA in this coming draft. If we’re losing this year, why not give Scoot the chance to fail and possibly shine?

I listed Banton over Scoot because Banton has more upside and I like watching his length for our defense.

But I'd be fine with Scoot starting just this season, Banton as 6th/7th man, then plan to find a PG this summer.

Ant (plus Grant/Ayton) are the players that make no sense here.

PG Scoot 36
SG Sharpe 36
C Clingan 36
PF Camara 36
SF Avdija 36

Murray
Rupert
Walker

EVERYONE else DNPCD
This. Only addition I would make is Banton backing up Scoot for 12. Rupert gets 12. Murray and Walker get 18 backing up forwards and center.

MM I will be your assistant coach and try my best not to annoy you.

Banton
Sharpe
Camara
Deni
Clingan

6th man Rupert
Totally forgot about Banton. My lineup would probably make Sharpe too easy to trap, so it's worth having another ball-handler out there, and this season his 3 point shooting is surprisingly good. It all hangs on his defense.

This isn't supposed to be a slight against Scoot but...

Deni
Shaedon
Banton
Tou
Donovan

with Scoot as the sixth man.

Yep, could be.
I honestly wonder if the Spurs would be interested. Depends if they think he'd work with Castle. They're supposed to covet D'Aaron Fox, who is sort of the best case scenario for Scoot (but with a couple of the same weaknesses) so...

Honestly, if San Antonio makes us an offer we should keep him.

He'd probably turn into an All Star in San Antonio.

For whatever reason Banton is now getting too few minutes so it will never be a starting 5:

Delano
Shae
Toumani
Deni
DC

Though I would have Scoot in there for Delano depending on matchups etc.

Too late. Banton is not a long term option

Depressing to see what the rotation could be instead of what Billups puts out there.

any lineup without Ant/Grant/Ayton works for me, however there is no "ideal" lineup IMO given the talent we have, basically its let the young guy play a LOT of minutes
