Do you want to know the score ahead of time before you watch? Sadly, I do. I don't like watching losses.

No, in fact I usually go out to dinner someplace where they don't show sports scores, and avoid it. I do it primarily to just let the game get ahead, and then fast forward through all the commercials. It's really too bad that the television stations made it illegal to cut commercials out of recordings. Because now all it does is force me to remove them manually by hitting the fast forward button.

Here is a better question, "Why is is that when you do have a game recorded and you want to watch without knowning the score that is one time in forever that someone calls to tell you about the game or you see the score by mistake beforehand?"

To be honest, I assume everybody records the games these days for the most part. It is rare somebody doesn't. Almost eveybody loves skipping the commercials.

Thats why you answer the phone like I do in that situation:

"Im tivoing the Laker game, dont tell me anything about it...so whats up?"

I used to not want to know the score back in the day when the Blazers tape-delayed their broadcasts, but now.. it's hard to avoid it. I need to know.

I always watch something else for the first hour of the game. (Or lately the kids distract me). Then I start watching. By the time the game is in the final few minutes I've often caught up to the live broadcast.

It's the only way to get the "live" (or almost live) experience without plowing through commercials and the dreadful halftime show.

Like tonight, I am recording the Boston, Orlando game at home. We'll land around 1AM and I will try to go all night without hearing the score so I can watch it in bed.

Yes. I don't have time to watch a bad game. And, I get too stressed not knowing. It is much more enjoyable for me to watch the win. I do watch some live, but only if on Pacific time.

I HATE knowing, whether it's a loss or a win. I don't check my txts or Facebook when I'm time-shifted because I have too many people that might spill the beans...

Man, what a game! I can't believe how Boston handled the Magic! 111-96, it was a blowout!

I work on the weekends till 2 am est time so i have been tivo-ing the blazer games the last 5 years. I am not surrounded by tv's thankfully so i dont see the score. Its takes the fun out of it if you know who wins. however by chance that i did find the score out.. and we lost... i wouldn't bother watching. it ruins it either way...

One time I was out drinking with my GFs best friend and her boy friend. Her boyfriend knows im a blazer fan and he says.. "all im gonna tell you is someone won by 2 points" which really ruined it as well. Knowing anything about the game, score, etc.... ruins the whole tivo thing for sports. For me on weekends ... Blazer games start at 2 30am EST Standard time.

Only thing that sucks is being up till 4 am watching the game.... but in all honesty it something to look forward too when I get out of work. I really miss it when the seasons over. Usually it takes an hour & 15 minutes to watch it. Its funny though cause when i watch LIVE games now... its annoying not being able to fast forward the commercials. I almost rather tape the first hour and just catch up so I can skip commercials. When we are losing and cant score... its hard to sit through a Wells Fargo commercial or Jawan Howard talking about his media day experience!

Hell no. I never want to know anything about any sporting event I intend to watch before I get to experience it. Otherwise, there is generally little enjoyment to me of watching it.

I almost never watch any sporting event without recording it ahead of time and letting it get at least to half-time. For one thing, I don't have that much free time (especially for football games). For another, I just can't bear wasting hours of my life watching commercials.

try dvr'ing an nfl game, with the 40 seconds inbetween plays it is the perfect sport to watch with the skip ahead button.

the skip ahead button.

Fuck Time Warner Cable! They dont have that button!!!!

Their remote design is the worst ever. The "live" button is right above the fast forward button. When you select a program you tivoed the first option they give is "cancel recording"

Ive never hated one company so much

I do the same thing and almost have it down to an art of starting the game late but finishing the game soon after the game finishes live. I can't totally catch up because I am so spoiled I can't handle sitting through commercials (especially the final five minutes)

When the Blazers are losing or are getting blown out . .. I can fly through a Blazer game in 30-45 mins (I fast forward through a lot of the game). But if they win, I'm watching the game again to put me to sleep. :D

I don't want to even read recaps of games when the Blazers lose, let alone watch the replays.

When they win and its Tivo'd, I leave it on as background while I'm working on teh computerz

I like to watch the games real time so I can participate in the game thread. That's for road games almost exclusively. At the RG for home games, so I don't have a choice!

If I can't watch a game, I'm always following it on my cell phone.

If I know the score I can't watch the game, it's not interesting anymore. Win or lose.

I'm the same way with one exception. Let's say Oden gets 24 points 15 boards . . . I'm watchin' that game (maybe twice) even if I know we won by 17.

I went to the Brandon Roy 52 point game last year, then came home and watched it again because it was so spectacular.

But the average 87-81 point win over Detroit, after scrolling through the box score and nothing jumps out at you . . . DELETE.

Right. That's why I never look at the scoreboard when I'm in the arena. Don't tell me how the Blazers are doing! I hate it when the people I'm sitting next to are talking to me, and they're using numbers. Shut up! I don't want to know what's going on!

I want it to be a complete surprise on every possession what the team might do. I don't want to know how much time is left in the game, either, because that would again, ruin the surprise of what might happen on each possession. What a stupid foul! What are they doing? The guy just grabbed a rebound and wasn't going anywhere!

I have to admit that since I've started watching this way, there are some plays I just don't understand. But I enjoy the surprise at the end of the game of not knowing who won.

Yup! everyone else are stat junkies watching only the boxscore!

Heh. It's even better if you close your eyes and wear earplugs. Drift off to sleep if you can. It's always fun to see whether anyone is left in the arena when you wake up.
