...the Spurs record after their first 20 games for, say, the last ten seasons? I've maintained that they're notoriously slow starters, but I'm not quite sure where to find the data.

Thanks in advance.

Try espn.com spurs pages -> game logs. They have links for several seasons going back.

Basketball-reference.com has game logs for recent seasons, but I'm not sure how far back.

Thanks.

2009 -- 12-8
2008 -- 17-3
2007 -- 15-5
2006 -- 16-4
2005 -- 16-4
2004 -- 10-10
2003 -- 12-8
2002 -- 16-4
2001 -- 13-7
2000 -- 14-6

Certainly, a lot better than I had thought.

HAHAHAHA!!

I told you so!

That's true. It took guts to post that. I know I wouldn't have.

BTW, the other team I had mentioned in that same conversation:

Jazz

2010 -- 12-8
2009 -- 12-8
2008 -- 13-7
2007 -- 15-5
2006 -- 8-12
2005 -- 9-11
2004 -- 11-9
2003 -- 12-8
2002 -- 9-11
2001 -- 16-4

About what I had expected.

BTW, for others, BP and I had a conversation in which he was more or less speculating that Nate has lost control of this team. I argued that it's waaay too early to make those particular ascertations. I also maintained that some of the best coaches in the league have had many slow starts during their careers. I pointed to Pops and Sloan as two quick examples.

No I didn't. You simply heard what you wanted to hear.

What I said was Nate is maxing out what he can get out of these players. Prior to the very latest injuries to Oden & Rudy the team was under performing. That is a coaching problem for the most part. I graded Nate a C- or D+ thus far and you graded him an A. I think it's time to start considering a new direction for the team- starting at coach.

When you kept asking me what I'd grade Nate, what I said was, if I gave him an A would it really matter? In fact I didn't give him an A. I told you at that time that I'd give him an incomplete.

Again, I said it's waay too early (senseless, even ludicrous) to begin talking about a potential coaching change. It's very hard for me to even comprehend these types of discussions. I suppose poeple just don't have much else to discuss, though. :dunno:

The Spurs are 10-9 right now, not 12-8.

The website uses the end #'s of the season.

So when they do 2009, it's considered the 2008-09 season.

No it's not. After about 1/4 into the season it's appropriate to discuss how a team is doing in general terms.

First of all, the team has been decimated with injuries. Relative to that, kind of makes it difficult to discuss Nate's overall job.

Secondly, Nate has done a credible job of increasing the team's wins each and every year. I believe he deserves, at least, the benefit of this season to figure things out.

Thirdly, WC standings-wise, the team is right about where they left off last season, This, in a supposedly tougher WC this season.

Also, in regards to Nate losing the team, that was in reference to when I pointed out to you that part of the recent equation was our star player being somewhat of a whiny-butt.....figuratively, crying for Blake over Miller. You mentioned that those types of problems are coaching-related issues....that Nate needs to figure that all out. I agree with that. However, again, I want to give him the benefit of more than 20 games to do such....especially, again, considering he's had to juggle lineups from the get-go due to all the injuries.

I still believe Nate's doing a "decent" job. Not necessarily a good job, but a decent job nonetheless. I'm gonna take a wait-and-see approach. Based upon his past results, I think he'll cobble together a better-than-expected unit and have these guys playing decent ball heading into the new year.
