Devean George won't back down, or so they say. So what are the options.
1. Make George a promise or find some other way to get him into the deal and do as planned: two trades a) Kidd and Allen for Harris, Diop, George, Ager and Stackhouse and B ) Wright for a second round pick and a trade exception worth the value of Wright's salary or $1.9 million. Less and Less Likely even with Thorn meeting with Bartlestein this evening.
2) Do a three-way deal that either sends George to an acceptable third team for a player who can then be packaged to the Nets in a separate deal: Patrick O'Bryant for Wright could work, I think. VERY unlikely.
3) Replace George with players on the Mavs roster suitable to the Nets, like Juwan Howard and Nick Fazekas or Eddie Jones and Nick Fazekas. Only problem is that Jones has a player option and has said he would require before accepting a trade to the Nets...and the Nets have rejected the other combination. Unlikely as well.
4) Replace George with KVH. A $2 million contract, pro-rated for the rest of the year, would do the trick. But it would also mean the Wright deal would be off. Cuban doesn't want to add even more money to his luxury tax commitments and doing this would do that. Wright wouldnt be needed to make the overall deal work. Most likely scenario in my opinion.
5) End the Madness, as Devin Harris calls it. The most UN-likely scenario.
