According from a recent story in the Sacramento Bee, Sacramento may soon be following the lead of several major cities, including Portland and Seattle, as it considers a proposal to create “tent cities” — essentially sanctioned homeless camps.

Hmmm, we will have an increase of drug use, dirty needles, and assaults/murders.
Great !!

I tried searching for "dignity village" on oregonlive but no articles yet. Any idea where this village is?

We actually have iron gates underneath the bridges to keep people from sleeping under them. Next time you're on the max, look under the overpass.

We care though!

I admire their efforts in house and building making. Its definitely a step up from steel sheds, etc.
However I think if a 911 call was made, I doubt they have the proper 15 feet requirement for a fire call. Too many of the houses are close together. I could see just now, that one minor mistake in someone's kitchen could bring the whole community up in flames.

Is this the way Sacramento plans to replace Arco? Somehow, I don't think the Maloofs are going to find this an acceptable solution.

They have to put these tents somewhere. How about the river floodbank plains on I-80 just east of Sacramento. Plenty of room and I have never seen it flood there even though the freeway is elevated. (I travel through here in the summertime).
