Hanalei is on Kauai as well?Have you been to Waimea? Literally on the opposite side from Hanalei. There aren't a lot of people and the beach is great.
Either way, John, Kauai is where I would go
Wow! That's just ridiculous! The scenery on any of the islands is eye candy. Lots of lush green and rugged cliffs and volcanic mountains and foothills.
Here are a couple of pictures of a golf course on Lanai.

SHit, well with my luck it would rain the whole time!

He said we paid to play so we should at least try. We both made it over. My ball barely did.Hanalei is on Kauai as well?
That's just unreal. I've seen pics of that coast before, but didn't realize thats where it was. Helicopter ride for sure right?
If you want to check out almost all of the islands then you can do a 7 day inter-island cruise that begins and ends in Honolulu and stops overnight at 2 of them (so you almost get 2 full days at those two islands) then hits most of the others for 1 day each. Pig out in the dining room on the ship free of cost. You won't be as secluded as renting your own place of course but you will get a great idea of which island you want to spend more time at in the future after seeing them all.
Just another option to consider...
It runs every week from Saturday to Saturday @HCP so yes, it depends on if you have 7 days off that fit that timeline. I haven't gone on it yet but I am booked to do it next year.Probably too long (something the HCP has never heard from Mrs HCP) Will there be 7 days off during the break?
I have a friend that did the cruise though and LOVED it. I have always wanted to do it, but I always opt for an all inclusive somewhere.

Oahu?^
I wouldn't do the helicopter ride.
They have helicopter crashes in the news, like 1 a year![]()
