Gee, couldn't be that they don't want what is going to be a massive clusterfuck to impact the 2014 mid-terms, could it?

Also, how can the WH just say on their own when they will and won't enforce provisions of legislated law? The amazing thing is that the CBO scored the bill for 10 years starting in 2010, yet 5 years later, major components of it will still to be implemented by the government.

The Obama administration will not penalize businesses that do not provide health insurance in 2014, the Treasury Department announced Tuesday.
Instead, it will delay enforcement of a major Affordable Care Act requirement that all employers with more than 50 employees provide coverage to their workers until 2015.

The administration said it would postpone the provision after hearing significant concerns from employers about the challenges of implementing it.

“We have heard concerns about the complexity of the requirements and the need for more time to implement them effectively,” Mark Mazur, Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy, wrote in a late Tuesday blog post. “We recognize that the vast majority of businesses that will need to do this reporting already provide health insurance to their workers, and we want to make sure it is easy for others to do so.”

The Affordable Care Act requires all employers with more than 50 full-time workers provide health insurance or pay steep fines. That policy had raised concerns about companies downsizing their workforce or cutting workers’ hours in order to dodge the new mandate.

In delaying the enforcement of that rule, the White House sidesteps those challenges for one year. It is also the second significant interruption for the Affordable Care Act, following a one-year delay on key functions of the small business insurance marketplaces.

Together, the moves could draw criticism that the administration will not be able to put into effect its signature legislative accomplishment on schedule.

Anyone could see it's a political move.

But politicians do this all the time.

I don't expect people to understand what this means, but it does royally mess up the CBO's grade of the bill over 10 years now that the government will have at least one less year of projected tax collection from companies not complying with the law.

At least the Dems don't have to run against it next fall, though!

What a joke Obama is.

Looks like someone finally read the bill.

The Obama administration is postponing the ‘employer mandate’ – which would levy financial penalties on businesses with more than 50 employees that fail to provide health insurance that meet the minimum standards and “affordability” — until 2015. The move delays implementation of at least one component of the unpopular law until after the next mid-term elections. A coincidence, no doubt.

Individuals? You’re still on the hook.

From the Treasury Department statement:

Over the past several months, the Administration has been engaging in a dialogue with businesses – many of which already provide health coverage for their workers – about the new employer and insurer reporting requirements under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). We have heard concerns about the complexity of the requirements and the need for more time to implement them effectively. We recognize that the vast majority of businesses that will need to do this reporting already provide health insurance to their workers, and we want to make sure it is easy for others to do so. We have listened to your feedback. And we are taking action

Treasonous...

This was hidden in the new immigration bill. I hope those of you who work for big companies and support this bill are the first let go because of the legalized citizen provision. I'll laugh at those of you who support tyranny are the first to become dependent as second-class citizens.

“Under Obamacare, businesses with over 50 workers that employ American citizens without offering them qualifying health insurance could be subject to fines of up to $3,000 per worker. But because newly legalized immigrants wouldn’t be eligible for subsidies on the Obamacare exchanges until after they become citizens – at least 13 years under the Senate bill – businesses could avoid such fines by hiring the new immigrants instead.”

Illegal immigrant workers cannot hope to replace Real Americans in any position requiring skill, quality workmanship, or the need to be able to understand remedial English.

Since no immigration bill is likely to pass in the next few years, there will be no such legal pool of foreign workers, nor the funds to train them and educate them.

In a few months, the individual mandate will be pushed back as well. The exchanges simply aren't ready and the Democrats can't afford to piss off so many people who voted for them when they need them so badly for the 2014 midterms.

The inescapable fact is insurance premiums are going to go up and coverage is going to be less. It's especially going to affect the young who are least able to afford it and who don't need it. They're required to subsidize older people.

In reality, we need to de-link employment and health insurance. However, Big Insurance is too deep into the pockets of both parties. They don't like having to get a policy at a time when they can go to one business and get hundreds.

So ... you're a single-payer advocate?
