Oden. If he stays healthy. Had he stayed healthy, I'm positive he would have made it this season. If he plays in the first half next season the way he did this season, I htink he can realisitically make it next season.

if batums ever an all star i will never post again. are u kidding me?

 There may be some serious ballot stuffing around here in a year or two. :pimp:

Yea, I don't see Nico as an all star-- ever.

He's gonna be a terrific role player, and will make an all star-esque impact, but he will never have the stats to go.

Oden.

He would have made it this year if he had remained healthy. Since I am allowing myself to believe he will have a full season next year there is no reason to believe he wouldn't be able to get in.

Batum could make it, but he has a long ways to go before that happens.

I doubt Batum ever becomes an all-star, but based on what I saw of him in a couple of his games in the European championships, I think he's got some serious potential on the offensive side of the court.

And yes, I know you think he "seriously sucks," but you think a lot of wrong shit, so I'll forgive you.

So do I, but I doubt he'll ever be able to show his full talents on the offensive end with Nate, and this roster in place.

Well, we've had only two all stars since 1994 (Roy twice, Sheed twice). So it's not like there's any guarantee that we'll see anyone beyond Roy for the next 4 or 5 years.

That's the funny thing about this team. Oden, Aldridge, Batum, Bayless and Fernandez might all be All-Star candidates some day. Or none of them.

Well despite all the accolades heaped upon our players, I just dont see any who have said "I am a future all star" right now. Even as good as Greg was playing, guys like Kaman were playing vastly superior basketball, at least this year.

I think this is what is going to cause KP having a hard time making a trade.

IMO, he has got to take his best guess on who fits the best and risk giving up a future all star. From the other teams perspective, they are getting is a young player with potential (maybe to be an all star) for a proven vet with no little chance of being an all star but good role player. I don't think KP can expect to get a proven all star for a package of a potential all star and an expring contract.

I think Oden is the obvious choice here. As much as I would love to see Batum as an all-star....it's not ever going to happen. To be an All-Star in Portland you have to have stats like BRoy and get put into the game by the coaches. As much as coaches appreciate Batums game. They will appreciate players that actually deserve to be in the game a lot more.

There will be always be times during a season to show your full talent.

Batum is a role player.

If Oden was healthy, i'd pick him. But I can't count on his health, as much as it pains me to say that.

So I say Aldridge.

I picked LMA because I'm not sure Oden will be healthy enough to get an All-Star nod.

I also voted for LA. He is the closest right now and still young.

If Oden stays healthy, he could pass up LA. But I see LA as being closer right now.

Oden, is my guess.

Bayless would be next on my list. He has a great skill set...if he brings it together into one consistent, controlled game, he'll be a definite All-Star.

To weigh in on the Batum thing, I think he has All-Star potential. I wouldn't say it's his expected value, but I think it is his ceiling. Some of it is just amateur scouting on my part, but he looked so natural and in control on the court last year as a 19-20 year old, which I think is quite rare. He also has impressive athletic gifts and a natural flair for defense, the second thing also being rare. I don't think he's a phenom, but I think he has a chance to be pretty special.

consider this.

IF oden had not gone down and had continued to improve even slightly, right now he would be top 8 in the league in PER (currently #9), would almost certainly be leading the league in blocks, and would be top 2 in rebound rate and top 3 in FG%.

oden would have gotten a lot of consideration THIS YEAR. health aside he is the obvious choice.
