Who will be the future stars?

Reading the thread where Kingspeed believes that Yi will be a star got me thinking about who the next generation of stars will be. I would assume that some of this years crop including Tyreke Evans, Jennings, Flynn, and Curry could become stars. But there has to be others out there that are not yet considered stars that you expect to be a future star. And try and be bold if possible. I remember a long time ago, when Butler was still with LA I wanted so badly for the Blazers to get him because I just had this gut feeling that he would be a star. In his case, I was right. In the case of Derek Anderson I was wrong.

State who you think will become a star and tell us why.

Also feel free to say if there is a player that is highly regarded now, that you know will NEVER be a star.

You never know. During the first round of the playoffs last year I would have said Derek Rose. The last 2 seasons, I would say Al Jefferson or Kevin Martin. Injuries and team chemistry will mix things up!

It might not be completely out of left field given his draft position, but I think Kevin Love will become a "star" (at least a few all-star appearances).

I caught a couple of Wolves games since he's been back in their lineup and they are like a completely different team with him in there. He's not the biggest nor most athletic guy, but damn is a good player.

I would not be surprised if TE becomes a full on superstar like Lebron, Kobe, Jorden... The man is a beast with skills. I would set the over/under for TE at 8 all stars.

I am not saying he is there yet, and likely will never get there, but he is the ONLY person in the last coupe classes that I think have a legit shot at ever getting there. I have watched him play a handful of times but it seems like me he has a mix of strength, athleticism, skills and smarts that are rare.

He is good enough to have a shot at being a truly great player.

Russel Westbrook is not going to be a star in this league. On two occasions I have watched him snatch defeat from the jaws of victory by doing whatever the reverse of taking over a game is. Basically he looked for his own shot every single trip down the floor. On one play Durant was wide open. Westbrook looked at him, waved him off, then went one on five. Of course he got his shot blocked. Freaking pathetic.

Good one. Although he is young and has the raw talent to become a minor star. I think you are most likely correct.

There has been talk that Beasley is finally figuring it out and will bust out soon. I say BS. He will have good games for sure, but I just dont see him ever becoming a star.

Beasley seems kind of like Antwan Jamison to me. Not that their style of game is exactly the same or antyhing, but their talent is undeniable, it's just putting it together at a position to help out a team. Jamison was never really solid enough to defend the better PFs, and never quick enough to defend the better SFs, which ultimately kept him from ever being a true "Star". He had some very good season, but because of this tweener status, never got into the elite of the league, I think due in part to never being considered a top player at his position. Beasley is going to score, adn score well. He'll get by bigger PFs, but won't stop them at all, so won't be considered generally among the top PFs. He'll be able to abuse a lot of SFs on the blocks, but will get blown by by the better ones, to never be considered a top SF either.

If Bayless can hit a jumper consistently, like he has been lately, he'll be up there with these guys.

Marc Gasol is a beast. Like a poor-man's Sabonis. Extremely skilled and smart.

If Johnny Flynn plays in another system he'll be a handful. The triangle is definitely not his style.

gotcha.. I do agree with that then. He has the size to completely bully around players like a Lebron would (just different positions) but has the speed and skill to get around the ones he couldnt bully around. Yes out of the young batch I would say he has the best chance with his physical tools, to be elite.

Roy, Oden, Aldridge and the rest should all be solid "role players". I wouldn't mind another star. Possibly Fernandez, Bayless or someone via a trade. Regardless, the sooner we lock down and build around this trio, the better our team will be.

He just keeps getting better. By next season he should be at 25 PPG, 60% FG, 90% FT. What a find for Houston.

Seriously, Blake Griffin is a beast. If his knees don't hold him down he'll be an All Star multiple times over. Where have I heard that before? Evans needs to shoot better from the perimeter to be an "Elite" guy, but he'll be an All Star too. Durrant is going to play in his share of All Star Games for sure, maybe win an MVP - dude is 21 years old (before you criticize his defense and other less refined areas of his game) At 24 years old, Chris Paul will be lethal for years to come, same with Dwight Howard. Geez, those two may still get BETTER! Don't sleep on Brook Lopez either. 19/10/2 are good on ANY team, especially for a 21 year old Center - take a look at the crap him & D. Harris play with.

Um, yeah I wasn't serious about Landry. Although he is clearly better than anyone outside of Houston thought.
