I thought about giving it to Rik Smiths, for he failed to take the Knickerbocker moniker from New York, and as an individual of Dutch origin, he should have, but I am going with Diedrich Knickerbocker, aka Washington Irving for popularizing the name and associating it with New Yorkers.

It's Thibs fault for sure. Win or lose Thomas Joseph Thibodeau Jr. has whipped these Knicks into shape. Who knows how long he can coach this team or any team before they turn on him but he has the Knicks playing hard on both ends. The dude understands how to coach basketball and how to be an asshole. So fuck you Thibs for being such a good coach for another team and a little fuck you for being such a bitter grinder... even if part of me admires that.
