Why are Stack and George needed?

I don't see the problem...
If KVH can be used in this trade, I don't know why would Stack and George be needed...

KVH can be resigned up to a one year 15 mill contract... Thats less than Stack's remaining salary... and his huge expirer would be a nice asset.

KVH + Harris + Ager + the 1 first rounders for Kidd and Malik Allen would work just fine.

Dallas keeps it's depth, we get a huge expirer, everyone is happy.

Than, if we can somehow pull off Boki + Magloire + Wright for Mike Miller...

And that's when we have everything to get JO or Brand, without giving up the core guys.

KVH's 15 mill expirer + Krstic + Marcus for JO, and we have this roster for next season:

JO/Sean
Boone/Stro
RJ/Miller
Vince/Ager
Harris/Armstrong

looks pretty good to me...

Ok, I undertand now, thanks for the info.

But then the next question is, what Cuban's limits exactly are...

Diop's expirer can still be added, and then KVH needs to be signed for 9 mill only to make it work. (Stack's and George's contracts add up to that amount)

If Cuban was going to trade stackhouse nad then resign him for the MLE, almost the same lux tax would have kicked in as in the case of signing KVH for 9 mill...

that is an interesting point you bring up when u think about it like that

maybe he will just skip the stackhouse process of sending him to us and then waiting 30days to resign him since now that he has to use van horn he will just sign horn to a contract that combines george and stacks salaries together making it alot less complicated espcially if the nba is serious about being a bitch on what stackhouse said

so it would make things easier for both sides cuz then cuban doesnt have to send 3 million and doesnt have to wait the 30days for stack to return.

even though cuban has his limits using KVH is really the ONLY option of gettin kidd now unless george wakes up one morning and decides jersey isnt soo bad hence he waives his bitch rights

so we would get KVH, Diop, Harris, and (2) 1st rd picks for Kidd , and Malik sounds good

Stack and George account for around 10 million in salary...KVH would only need to be signed for 10.

Techniquely since they were probably gonna have to take on Antione Wright, resign Stack at Vets minimun and send 3 million in the trade then the difference is between sending Stack and George and signing Van Horn is about 13 million in luxury taxes. If Stack is included and Van Horn is signed for 3.5 million than the difference is only 5 million

Original trade: 2 million increase
Vanhorn replaces George: 5 million
Vanhorn replaces Stack and George 13 million increase
Either way Cuban can afford it...gut feeling it he just doesn't want Kidd.

Honestly Cuban should pay the 3 freaking million dollars difference and little George stay.

So someone is going to take the financial hit in this trade.

Either the Nets get Stackhouse and get a favorable small buyout of his contract and then the Mavs use their MLE to resign Stackhouse and take the luxury tax hit.

Or the Nets don't get a favorable buy out with Stackhouse and just end up waiving him and his full contract is on their cap for the next few years while the Mavs resign Stackhouse for the minimum and don't take the luxury hit.

Or Cuban just takes the big luxury tax hit and keeps his team depth intact to stay competitive and sign and trades Van Horn to a big expiring contract so he can keep Diop, George and Stackhouse.

Pay the luxury Cuban! Do it!
