Why are the yankees not active in the foriegn markets

I keep reading about this cuban OF signing with the O's on the cheap. Another cuban pitcher being chased by the Sox and Dodgers. Considering the yankee farm is total shit, and they will have holes all over the place next year, shouldnt they be more involved in these dealings? What the hell is going on with this team these days? There is literally no direction or plan for the future at all. Its basically get under 189 and hope for the best.

I get that they want to get under this tax cap, but i do not get what they plan to do after that. You figure signing a few international FA's to suppliment the limited farm, especially in the OF position, would be a good idea. This Cuban pitcher out there has the potential to slot in as a nice #3 type starter. Something the yankees could certianly use next year. I have no idea whey they have seemingly zero interest.

I could end up being dead wrong but I don't think the future is their concern. I wouldn't be shocked if they sell the team in the next year or two. They already unloaded a good portion of the YES Network. What was the sudden concern to get under the luxury tax threshold all about? The actions to me are all the signs of owners looking to sell.

They just signed that Polish guy hoping that will help them in this new world baseball market.

I assume the Poles won't produce many top baseball talents though

I too agree... lets just hope that when they do sell, that the new owner isn't worse...

I think its almost assured it will be Murdock's group. Not so sure you are going to get a passionate baseball 1st operation out of them either. Days of George doing anything and everything to win, baseball 1st, buisness 2nd, are gone. This is how the rest of the league lives....with better, smarter GM's though.

Problem with cuban who I'd like to see also is that the fellow baseball owners that vote won't want someone that will spend a ton of money which he would certainly do. At this point yankee management is paralyzed till the a-rod 24 hour watch and the eventual suspension from mlb happens
