Why not sign and trade Nenad?

It seems we have one of the deepest frontcourts in the league filled with young talent...I mean look at the list:

Brook Lopez
Yi Jianlian
Ryan Anderson
Sean Williams
Josh Boone
Nenad Krstic
Stromile Swift

I think it's apparent that Yi, Anderson and Lopez are safe for now and that most likely Boone is as well due to the fact that he brings a different strength to the table compared to the others...that leaves Sean and Nenad.

It would surprise me to see either traded I think Nenad is the most likely to go.

Why not investigate with teams who need frontcourt help and have a dearth of wings...

Nenad could go to Atlanta for Childress or Chicago for Selfosha fairly easily...

If anyone Krstic is most likely to get traded. I think they want to work on Sean Williams a bit more and see if they can make him into somthing special. Too much potential to trade away after one season.

well its doable and it gives the clippers a PG in m. williams and with a fresh start in a new city could fuel him to be hungry to get better... and swift and kvh comes off next year almost 10 million of the books for them, and still a young krstic to go along with kaman? they can use the 3 million trade exemption on a filler for their needs.

I could see a team willing to do a S&T if they want to save the full MLE and they have something we desire but is not in their plans.

I like the Lowery concept, but now that we have so many young guys I'm not sure I want another at back-up pg.

That's not a rebuilding move...all of our young talent is in our young frontcourt...we're building that up and creating cap space why would we trade for a 30 year old powerforward coming off a major surgery who would command a max deal?

It's not progressive thinking...Thorn and Kiki aren't trying to be championship contenders over the next two seasons...they are attempting to get a lot of young talent, a lot of cap space and then make a splash in 2010 in the free agent market.

Hell the only reason Vince Carter is still a Net is because all we could get for him was an expiring contract and without him we'd lose the star appeal that puts fannies in the seats. It wouldn't shock me to see him gone by next years trade deadline.

My god... it's a sports columist speculation about what he thinks the Knicks should do. They mentioned a bunch of players they should look at.

They way the original post was written I thought this was on the verge of happening.

so does that mean we cant stay competitive? i mean are we goin to be a lottery team for the next 2 seasons? i hope not... i really hope not... cuz i wana us to win games and make it to the playoffs... i kno its all about LBJ but thats 2 years from now... i dont wana sacrifice the next 2 seasons for a chance of gettin LBJ...

It would be a step backwards overall...teams need to rebuild sometimes...it's just the way it goes. Portland was a annual playoff contender until a few years ago but instead of delaying the rebuilding they embraced it and are now set up to be a downright dominant team for the next 10 years...

The Knicks needed to rebuild about 7 years ago but instead kept adding expensive players to there roster and trading away draft picks and they still suck and are farther away from winning then they were a few years ago...

Sometimes you need to take a step back to take a step forward...that's the way it goes.

Anyone, they dont really have any young talent to give back, I dont envision a deal w/ them.

I think we will keep him for cheap and see if he can get back to Nenad 2005.
