Since Stotts been coach, we rarely saw a 10 deep team. I'm wondering if Stotts may consider going 10 deep so the starters have more legs in the post season.

We already know the starters: Lillard, Matthews, Batum, Aldridge and Lopez

Key bench: Blake and Kaman.

Next tier of bench: T.Rob, CJ, Will, D Wright

The scraps: Leonard, Freeland, Claver, and Crabbe

No.
it will be 8 maybe 9 deep.

Blake will get minutes
Kaman also
Trob will get minutes over Freeland as long as he plays defense and rebounds defensively.
CJ/Barton will fight for minutes. but rarely should they play together...
DWright is interesting. He could take minutes from cj/barton/trob in stotts' system. but he also could warm the bench if he doesn't do the little things along with making open 3's.

Nards/Claver/Crabbe won't get much run.

No. So we need a trade.

I wonder if the Jazz are ready to give up on Derrick Favors? We could give them TRob, Meyers, Freeland and/or Dorrell Wright and they'd have a lot of flexibility.

Yes absolutely we will go 10 deep. Maybe not every game but 10 of the 11 you listed will play for sure.

Kaman, Blake , Trob , then 2 of the three between cj, Will, and Wright.
The others will get a chance to beat out the bench players or if injuries occur.

8 and 3/4 is as deep as I go without someone jumping up and down on my ass...

I disagree. I think CJ and Barton may get more burn than you think.

I see Blake, CJ and Barton on the floor at the same time for spurts.

T. Rob and freeland will be combatting for minutes and Leonard will play only when we are blowing teams out, our players are in foul trouble or a big is injured.

I agree with you. I think Stotts was aware just how winded our starters were in the series vs Spurs. If our goal is to go deep in the playoffs, then we must play 10 deep in the regular season.

Of course the rotation will tighten up in the post season though.

Didn't they basically give him a max extension?

maybe I should have said that more clear... but I did say 8-9 so logically I was including cj or barton.
CJ and Baron will fight each other for minutes.

I hope so. And the other 5 need to get legit minutes. I hate seeing stats of how our starting five play more mins than the next closest 5 man unit bye like 500 mins.

So your saying that CJ wont be our 6th man?

Terry, I know you probably don't know this, but last time I was here Nate pushed in-his-prime Brandon Roy to SF so that I could start. Just sayin'.
...

Stotts isn't capable of coaching a bench. He is and will continue to be too reliant on the starters.

So no.

I hope you're wrong about Stotts, but I suspect you're right. This is his make-or-break season, IMO.

Disagree. This is the first year in a new 2 year contract after a 21 win improvement over the previous year. Unless we miss the playoffs, he's gonna be here until 2016-17 I believe. The improvement last year will buy him some confidence and time.

If we get bounced in the 1st round I can't see bringing him back. But that's me. Yes, I think you're right in that, regardless of what happens, he'll be here for at least the start of 16/17. But if we have an early exit this season it'll be the beginning of the end for him.

Hard to go 10 deep on a consistent basis and keep everyone happy.

Oligatory sophomoric joke about penis size....

Real Answer: I hope not, but I think very possible we do. 10 deep means an average of 35 mpg/starter + 13 mpg/reserve. Put another way some of the reserves will only get 8 or 9 mpg, and it'll be the young guys who need more burn than that.

I could see lopez dropping to 30 mpg; which would give Kaman 18 minutes at back up. Of course he may slide to PF at times, depending on the circumstance.

Damn, I somehow thought this thread was going to be about my wife

That's what she screams about me when she talks in her sleep.

I hope so, I think the young guys need minutes in the beginning of the season so we can weed out the not so stellar players and tighten up the rotation with the best possible 8 for when it matters most.

This

Blake, Kaman, T-Rob, CJ/barton

I just didn't see it in Dwright last year. He can be a deadly floor spacer, but he's gotta get and hit his shots.
Freeland will get a shot at the second backup big minutes, and I think it'll be his to lose.

EDIT: I mean if he gets first dibs come the regular season, Joel will see more minutes than Robinson until Joel does something to lose the spot.

I hope so. Because if they do I think it means that they are all playing well enough to get significant time. Im interested in seeing what Wright does this year. He has one year under his belt. A sense of security playing another year with the same team. I think he could be a real surprise due to this. I could see him being that Marco Bellinelli for the team. Someone that comes in and plays good solid minutes, with limited mistakes and becoming a deep threat for this team. Something that is consistent and something you can count on.

What I really hope is that CJ McCollum elevates his play to the point that makes his draft selection worthy with where he was taken at. And he lives up to some of the hype that the insiders had him at last year. I think this team needs that. They need a reliable dynamic scorer coming off the bench. If he can get there, this team has a chance to go the distance.

There wilt be 3-4 unhappy players regardless. I think those guys would all be happy with 8-10 minutes a game compared to the zero minutes the other bench guys will get.

Terry has to decide between CJ and Will at the SG
Will, Wright, and Claver at the 3, unless Wes gets those minutes and CJ, Will, and Dame , get more back up minutes at the 2
Then between TROb and Joel at the 4.......too many options until the injuries hit.
