Friends,

I am in the middle of shooting my next movie and I am looking for a few brave people who work on Wall Street or in the financial industry to come forward and share with me what they know. Based on those who have already contacted me, I believe there are a number of you who know "the real deal" about the abuses that have been happening. You have information that the American people need to hear. I am humbly asking you for a moment of courage, to be a hero and help me expose the biggest swindle in American history.

All correspondence with me will be kept confidential. Your identity will be protected and you will decide to what extent you wish to participate in telling the greatest crime story ever told.

The important thing here is for you to step up as an American and do your duty of shedding some light on this financial collapse. A few good people have already come forward, which leads me to believe there are many more of you out there who know what's going on. Here's your chance to let your fellow citizens in on the truth.

If you have any info that would help, please contact me at my private email address: bailout@michaelmoore.com.

For the rest of you on my email list who don't work in the financial industry, you're probably wondering, "What the heck is this all about? I thought he said he was making a romantic comedy!"

Well, I just can't say much right now. I'm sure you can understand why. One thing I can tell you is that you're gonna like this movie when I'm done with it. Oh, yeah...

So, again, if you work for a bank, a brokerage firm or an insurance company -- or if you have seen things or heard things that you believe the American people have a right to know -- please contact me at bailout@michaelmoore.com.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Yours,

Michael Moore

I would have mad respect if he did an expose on the bailout and stimulus package in a non-partisan manner.

I hate michael moore, but this movie could be something I wouldn't mind seeing.

I have something horrifying to uncover: I've witnessed people who sacrificed and acheived their entire lives working 70-100 hours week in and week out earning on an hourly basis less than an executive secretary.

I would like to see that movie as well. Sounds interesting.

I hope he covers the abuses undertaken by people who bought too much house or paid more than they could afford and now look to the American taxpayer to bail them out so they can continue to live above their means.

There will always be people who make a lot of money who don't really "deserve" it compared to others who work harder, or have a job that is more "important". For example, teachers, police, firemen and nurses all are horribly underpaid based on how important their jobs are for society. Someone who's job is pretty much inconsequential, might make far more money than a teacher does. Someone who a secretary should never make more money than a policeman does.

It should be noted that it's a lot easier to become a fireman, teacher or cop than the kind of job to which I was referring. Or in the words of Judge Elihu Smails, "The world needs ditch-diggers, too."

Screw Michael Moore, that fat slob.

A teacher is far more important than the job you were talking about too.

Jobs aren't paid based on "importance"; jobs are compensated based on the scarcity of people that can perform them at a specific level combined with the revenue they bring in. And let's drop the PC line of "teaching is the most important job in the world--think of the children!" Learning can be done without teachers. They make it easier, but most people have mediocre teachers all their lives and manage to do just fine.

I'll say something else very un-PC; most teachers are of middling intellect and limited ambition. It's a nice, secure job with lots of time off. If you like kids, you get a real psychic benefit. They serve an important role in society, but lots of people can do the job, so their salary is less.

Agree about his hypocricy. Can't stand it. And can't stand when people go see one of his movies, and start citing it as an example when you are having a discussion with them. Drops credibility fairly low. Yet people still rush to see his movies, and are probably the same ones that whine about the Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannitys of the world.

I take it you've never stepped foot in a classroom as a teacher. Or actually know any teachers.

I wouldn't say that's "un-PC", but incredibly stupid and condescending.

It's a nice, secure job with lots of time off.

All of that time off is unpaid hours too. The "3 months off" during the summer? Unpaid. The hours after the "bell" rings spent grading homework, coaching teams, staying after to work with kids, grading over the weekend, parent teacher conferences etc? Unpaid.

You have to stay till 8pm at your job, you get OT. You stay till 8pm at a school? That's not paid, let alone OT.

If you like kids, you get a real psychic benefit. They serve an important role in society, but lots of people can do the job, so their salary is less.

Lots of people can do the job? I'd like to see you even attempt to teach 1 class, let alone do it for 120+ kids a day for 5 days a week, knowing full well that in some cases you might be the only stable person in that kids life.

If teachers are paid salary, then they technically are paid for their grading papers, etc. As well as for their months off. That's the way salary works. Hourly, then obviously, they are not. I know all of the schools I have went to, or talked to friends who teach at, their sports coaches are paid. Is it a lot? No. But a lot of those coaches probably woudl do it if it was unpaid. They are not required to if they do not want to. You say if he has to stay until 8, he gets OT. That's not always the case. There is hourly work and salary work. And most salaried positions, you are paid your salary, and do not receive OT. And most hourly jobs, you do get paid OT.

Nice try. I was an adjunct professor for several years. And I know 14 teachers off the top of my head. Six in elementary school, three in Jr. High and five in high school. That doesn't count the dozens of friends of mine that teach in college, nor the high school counselors, vice-principals or principals I also know.

I wouldn't say that's "un-PC", but incredibly stupid and condescending.

Disprove my contention then. Otherwise, it's just your opinion.

Boy, that's tough for a union job. Welcome to the real world. Out here, it's a lot harder than that.

Do you need a hanky? I've taught plenty of classes, and not just to people who believe everything I say. I've also guest lectured HS economics classes. Golly, 120 people five whole days a week? It's called a job. You get paid for it. If you don't like it, quit. If you want more respect, go elsewhere for it. It must be a hard thing to grasp, but the only thing you're owed is a paycheck.

And a nice attempt at a Jesus complex with the "I might be the only stable person in their life", but something tells me you've watched one too many episodes of "Welcome Back, Kotter".

I love how he's asking for information and insight, despite already having settled on a conclusion. That's good documentary filmmaking!

Bingo. I was thinking the same thing.

"Help me expose the greatest swindle in american history" then he solicits the very information that he would need in order to come to his original opinion. That is awesome.

Friends,

I am in the middle of shooting my next absurdly one-sided and anti-American movie and I am looking for a few other people who hate America just as much as I do. Based on those few radicals and marxists who have already contacted me, I believe there are a number of you who are willing to sell your souls to make a few bucks, just like me. You have information that the American people don't care about in the slightest, but you are desperate to highlight anything negative about this country, so I need you! I am humbly asking you to lie and misrepresent the facts so that I can make millions of dollars on yet another movie that sucks.

Yours,
Michael Moore

It's great that Moore is going in with an open mind, to see what actually happened, rather than having an agenda and being determined to make people look like criminals.

It'd be a shame if he sacrificed integrity for sensationalism.

Oops. Shoulda read the whole thread before Quick Replying.

I agree with TPF and Chutney, of course. :)

Oh, Lord. I can't imagine that happening!

(cough, cough . . . )

I don't see the problem here. Of course he's already got an opinion, everyone does. But more to the point, he's not going to make a documentary with the premise "everything's great on Wall Street". That isn't what he does, and it isn't what people would pay to see. So of course he's asking for evidence that it is screwed up. That's the only sort of evidence that is useful to him. If he doesn't come up with enough negative material, the movie doesn't get made.

I would imagine the movie will get made irrespective of whether anyone responds to his plea for assistance or not.

Probably so, I'd guess this is advertising more than an actual request for help. Although I'm sure he'd be happy if it did turn something up.
