Here are some numbers I was looking up for my own interests. I wanted to see how well Portland played in the second half of the season vs the first half, and what they have done since the all star break. As we know, every pundit said Portland would be a much better team in the second half of the season as they mature and gel. Here are what the numbers look like;

Games 1-41 our record was 25-16=.610
This equates to a 50 win pace

Games 42-79 our record is 26-12=.684
This equates to a 56 win pace

If we win our our last 3 games that would be 29-12=.707
This equates to a 58 win pace

Since the all star break our record is 19-8=.704
This equates to a 58 win pace

If we win our last 3 games that would be 22-8=.733
That equates to a 60 win pace

Obviously this shows that the pundits were right. Of course I doubt they thought our team would be that much better. Only one Portland team has ever won 60 games so we are looking at this squad currently playing at a pace for an extended number of games that could challenge our 63 win team. Any thoughts or comments on this?

They absolutely came through in the stretch, but it needs to be said that their second half slate of opponents was a little bit softer than their opening couple of months. I tend to think they've performed pretty evenly throughout the year ... which is fantastic! I'm much more impressed with the team's steady, even pacing than going through hot and cold streaks and I think it says a lot about just how dialed in Nate has been and just how steadying a force Brandon is.
