OT Working in a body shop pays off sometimes

Someone backed into my wife's right fender. I could have fixed it but just for giggles had parts guy call dealer. My cost including tax was 160 dollars. About half of list with no tax. Bought it, had my painter paint it yesterday.

Got to work about 8:30 and texted my wife a pic of it completed at 9:55.

Would have been at least a thousand bucks for a customer. The finished picture the car is dirty but you can see my old decrepit buddy painter matched it pretty damn good without the car being there. It is Tuxedo black but has a ton of colored metallic in it.

Plus I didn't have to wash it last weekend like I would have. Didn't have to because it was dented. Usually wash it every weekend.

Haha. Oh my God I've seen parking lot repair jobs after. Holy fuck.

I've even heard of people coming out to their car and having a guy waiting demanding payment for something he already "fixed"

I might have smashed a guy's face right into the plaster of paris he troweled on my car.

I could have fixed it literally for free but the time savings was worth it as far as her car being down. Hassle free this way. I'm actually going to fix her old fender and store it just in case.

NFW, although I can fix things most hacks replace and save your car from being cut apart.
This sonata I replaced the trunk floor and rear body panel but saved the buckled quarter panels. I actually tried to pawn the job off on a coworker so I could take some vacation but he said he couldn't fix the right quarter. Easy as shit son if you know what you're doing. Here's a pic of it after pulls, I didn't have one from before I pulled it. Plus a pic of the black car washed today.

My wife hit a deer in her 4runner and i just had to replace the grill, bumper and signals. Did it myself for around $300 with aftermarket parts bought online. Had to do some fine tuning because the parts were cheapo but it turned out nice. Also slapped a grill guard on to prevent future problems... DIY is the ticket man.

Twas free. I caught it and the crotch of my pants on fire a few weeks ago. Weird how years of being cut and burned condition you to it.

Felt it, looked down and thought to myself "that's probably a bad thing"

Put it out and went back to welding.

I fix litetally everything myself. If im not sure about something i google/youtube that shit and get er done. Im such a cheap bastard but it saves me money and i learn stuff as well. The real trick is to not let your friends/inlaws know you know how to fix shit!
