Jason Day injured in WGC win over Graeme McDowell

World No.2 Jason Day has suffered a back injury in his opening round 3&2 win over Graeme McDowell at the World Golf Championships Match Play, potentially putting his Masters tilt in doubt.

Day was three-up after 14 holes when he winced in pain hitting a tee shot on the 15th hole, straining his lower back and suffering shooting pain.

Anirban Lahiri Eliminated From World Golf Championships

Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri was eliminated from WGC-Dell Matchplay event after he was held to a tie by Justin Rose.

Lahiri holed a dream eagle putt from 74 feet to go two-up with two holes to go against Rose, but was unable to hold onto that lead as the Englishman won the last two holes to halve the match.

Day beats Oosthuizen to win Dell Match Play

Australian Jason Day won the World Golf Championships-Dell Match Play for the second time in three years, beating South African Louis Oosthuizen in the championship final, 5 and 4.

It’s the second consecutive Sunday that Day has won a PGA TOUR event, having claimed the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard last week. He will supplant Jordan Spieth as the world's No. 1 player when the next rankings come out.
