First of all, I wanted to say that I likely will not watch the movie. It's not that I feel the movie is coming out too soon or anything like that. It is that I have a hard time buying that Nicholas Cage, Oliver Stone, and especially Maggie Gyllenhaal had anything else in mind then their personal political beliefs and the money that would come from the film instead of doing a sincere and respectful effort to portray the tragedy that occured on September 11th, 2001. Oliver Stone is known for making awfully political movies that are normally critical of the US Goverment. Maggie Gyllenhaal, meanwhile, is the actress who suggested that Americans were somewhat responsible for what happened on September 11th, 2001 and now she is starring in a movie about it? And Nicholas Cage is the most overused (not to mention overrated) actor out there. These are the people that were handpicked to make this movie? It seems to be that these people had their own personal political agenda in mind when making the movie instead of focusing on the tragedy that did occur. Many Americans have pretty much forgotten about the horrors of that day. The media won't show the video of the attacks anymore. The media wont mention the 3,000 innocent civilians that died on that day. The media wont mention the thousands of Americans that were hospitalized because of injuries from 9/11/01. The media definately wont mention how many thousands of New Yorkers who were outside of the towers (and some outside of New York City entirely) that were in sheer panic trying to find out if their family members were alive or dead. That is what 9/11 is about, yet this movie is going to focus on 2 Police Officers who were saved, instead of the 3,000 people who died. All because they have to put a 'Hollywood Ending' on a movie about a Tragedy. There Is No Happy Ending. But mainly I am tying this because I wanted opinions from the people that actually did sit through and see the movie to find out if I am wrong. Did they actually try to do a sincere and respectful effort to the events of September 11th or was it another Hollywood Ego-Fest that in the end with their political beliefs clearly evident in the making of the film
