Most presidents don’t get seriously primaryed from their own party, but trump will. It will interesting to see how it all plays out.

I was talking about it with a coworker who is a life long Republican but didn’t vote in the last election for the first time in 30 years.

He said the Republican Party has one more chance to win him back by giving him someone he can proudly vote for. Otherwise he will never vote R again.

He didn’t have much of an opinion of Haley but said any adult would do.

Would she beat him? Probably...but the real question is would he like it?

Personally I think she’d beat him like a drum. Brains over bluster. And conservative enough to pull a sizable chunk from Trump’s base of deplorables. I’d probably even vote for her.

Kasich is going to campaign hard against Trump.he's already started and has his website up ..I think Haley will face a tougher field of candidates than the last election...not sure if he's actually declared as an Independent but I think he's still listed as a Republican. Romney might run...Biden might run....Haley seems to be confident in her role as our UN rep...I don't know much about her other than she has governed twice in her state..you can bet conservative candidates will prepare for the next one....no surprises next time around.

If Haley runs anywhere outside the Republican South, she'll lose because of her affair while married.

Similar to how the media has covered up Bush II's wife's killing someone in a DUI car accident when she was young.

lol. Irony.

But I thought Trump would be impeached before then? :smiley-ugh:

I really don't know if he will. If the Dems take the house, I think there is a good chance he gets impeached, but that doesn't mean he stops being president.

I don't like her politics but she is bright, photogenic, well spoken and could bring many women back to the Republican party. She could beat Trump but more worrisome for me, she could possibly beat whomever the Dems run.

The majority of white women already vote republican*, and I don't think minority women will flock to her just because she's a woman. When you're actively persecuted by a party, it kind of overrides gender loyalty.

*"While Clinton won women's votes overall, most white women — 52 percent — voted for Trump, according to exit polls."

The polls have been showing the biggest group leaving Trumps side is R women and I’ve seen analysis that suggests that many of those women may be leaving permanently because they see the entire party as supporting Trump and turning their backs on women.

I don't think Nikki Haley will get them back, though, especially if Dems throw a competent minority male in front of them.

Not so sure. We are talking about women who are usually lean more conservative and only broke with the Republicans after extensive and ongoing misogyny. Haley would represent a break from that and would be an open invite for them to return.

However, many true Trump supporters would then walk away from the Republican Party. So either way, it might be the end of Republican dominance in the government for a while.

If the Republicans could just run someone that doesn't seem like he's part of the good old boy network AND is intelligent and has some common sense they'd have a pretty good chance. She fits at first glance.

She seems like a strong willed person. As a foil to Trump she seems pretty electable. I have no idea what her policies would be like.

Here's what appears to be a fairly even-handed review of her record as governor. Short answer - she got some things done but also had some serious flaws. The author rates her as a middle-of-the-pack governor.

This part suggests why Trump probably likes her though:
Gov. Haley wounded our state time after time through her carelessness with the truth, her refusal to admit her mistakes and, most seriously, her utter contempt for the rule of law.
