I would have liked a player like Lowry who is already past his prime and would mentor the young guards. Jrue is much better but I think he has more value for another team in this time in his career. We need to capitalise on that and get the best deal possible. Just my opinion

Zero interest. He is worth real trade assets and deserves to have a big role. Ant will likely get the bulk of the Blazers minutes/shots. I'd rather see what Scoot and Sharpe can do than a 33 year old Jrue.

If the Blazers need a few extra weeks to close a Jrue trade thats totally fine - there is no drama with bringing Jrue to camp. But the Blazers should work to get a deal done sooner than later.

I'd be fine with that.

Say you want to green light the rebuild or don’t complain about how we should be tanking.

It all comes down to who brings us the most value back. Jrue can guard either guard position so I would not hate keeping him.....but I assume he brings back more assets than Ant.

He doesn't fit where we are right now, and he's more useful as a trade asset than he is to the team. I was going to say that I don't care either way, so long as they trade him by the deadline, but really, I think the team benefits more if they can find a good trade for him before the season starts.

The situation has improved, IMHO, so Cronin has some more work to do either way.
A good day even with Lillard out the door.
Glad it’s Milwaukee!

Its really cost evaluation of start of season as opposed to trade deadline really. Trade deadlines you get the really desperate contenders that will pony up. just a thought.

Jrue wouldn't be a problem but let's just get him to the team willing to give us the most for him and get him to a winning situation. With Scoot, Shae and Ant on our team I don't want to worry about getting minutes for the starting PG of the best regular season in the East last season.

This place has been whining about undersized guards who can't play defense, so now we not only get a big guard, but a guy who is one of the better defenders around and everyone wants to dump him??? Trade Simons for whatever and keep Holiday around to teach our young guards what defense actually is. On the roster as it currently stands, Holiday is the only "true" vet, along with the only players who has actual, proven leadership skills (Grant has skills, but leadership hasn't been an obvious one so far). Screw a couple of draft picks. Keep the bird in hand. Too bad we couldn't have pried him loose 3-4 years ago. But IMHO, trading him and keeping Simons would be incredibly stupid. As far as I'm concerned, he was a key player in the trade.

I agree with a lot of this, but we are talking about a one-year rental for Portland because of how young we are. It makes more sense to get assets for him....could Simons bring us the same assets?

Wonder if you’ll get your wish?

Two year rental......just sayin'.

I'm OK with it, even if he starts over Scoot, but I don't think I'd LIKE it.

I think Scoot would have to be cool with coming in behind Holiday because he's a respected veteran and he definitely plays the kind of game that I'd love to have rub off on Henderson.

With that being said, I would prefer him to be moved for a good haul and let the kids play while we look forward to the future (and ignore Grant's contract).

Scoot isn't an undersized guard and the trade demand for Ant seems low. As much as I like him, given our current roster/circumstance it makes much more sense to trade Holiday while the demand is high.

Yes... Ant will be more valuable over time. He's either going to improve and be worth more or his contract is going to get shorter and he'll be worth more.

Holiday is presumably going to be worth as much between now and the trade deadline as he ever will be as a Blazer.

Sure, that's fine. He'll be traded when a good trade is available. No rush.

There should be enough demand for Jrue that trading him by training camp for great value is the expected outcome

I think it's more valuable to send him out now and essentially make it another aspect of the Lillard trade. I think with teams scrambling to answer the Bucks, the value might be higher now than it would be later, too.

The Blazers will find a veteran mentor for the young guards. It just won't be Jrue.

Id prefer keeping Jrue til the deadline.. Thats when they can extract the most for him I think.. I think this team/coach should be given a chance to sink or swim before u pull the rug out and Jrue gets traded..

Cuz on a roster as young and talented as this.. Winning is gonna pay dividends.. Jrue is exremely good defensively and he's sort of able to guard PG's and SG's and he brings a lot to the table.. the idea Jrue doesnt even deserve a chance to play seems like a major rush to judgement..

That being said, Chauncey was a better version of Jrue Holliday. He's already on the payroll and has zero trade value. Why can't Chauncey be Scoot's mentor?

From a strategic standpoint, Jrue's value is at its maximum right now, before the reality of Dame in Milwaukee is set. Right now, it's theoretical and there's a bidding war for his services. Start the season, and someone may surprise, showing they upped their defense.

We need to trade Jrue by the weekend.

All depends on what the offers are. It's possible that it could be worth waiting until after December 15th because a lot of players become available at that point.

With that said, I think Dame going to Milwaukee has created a bit of a frenzy, so I think he has a lot of value right now. He's the only All-Star on the market, aside from Harden.

If an All-Star can be underrated, Jrue is. If we kept him, we might be a play-in team, probably not, but he's sneaky good. I think the Bucks will miss his point of attack D and solid offense. He'd also be a good mentor for Scoot...

That being said, we should probably just let Scoot figure things out and get what we can for Jrue.
