Apparently Dwyane Wade wants Boozer. And Dwyane Wade is "thinking about" signing an extension. If you were Pat Riley, you'd give Wade what he wants. Supposing Utah matches Millsap, would you settle for Udonis Haslem to Portland as part of a three-team trade? He's older than, and not as exciting as Paul Millsap, but he's got a great midrange jumper and is a very good defender. Plus he's got a championship ring...

(What does this say about Beasley, though?)

I would love him as a backup PF............ for 4-5 million a year though!

I have always liked Haslem. He is one of those guys that just grabs his lunchbox, puts on his hardhat and goes to work.

Would seem like a disappointing move, to help out Utah just to get the position we are targeting in the signing anyways. I would say Miami has to throw in more, but then, is Chalmers really going to start here? I like him as a player and prospect, but he doesn't seem like a no-brainer upgrade that you give up all of your cap space for those two. Or even just Haslem.
Beasley, on the other hand...

I agree. But we'd have to come away with something more than just Haslem if we are going to help out a division rival with a 3 way trade.

No thanks, I'd rather have someone who doesn't get 19 year old chicks high and drunk in his hotel room with Ricky Davis.

Nope. I don't believe Haslem would fit in, culture-wise.

Would you perchance be referring to this:

Hey, at least it was IN Portland - shows a commitment to the community already...

Some bad decision-making showcased in that incident:

1) He got 19 year old chicks high and drunk at the hotel

2) He got UGLY 19 year old chicks high and drunk at the hotel

3) He got UGLY 19 year old chicks high and drunk at the hotel WITH RICKY DAVIS

No, we're the facilitators in this trade. We get what we want. Utah can't make a lopsided trade with Miami unless a team under the cap is involved. We get Millsap or we don't trade.

and we pray OKC doesnt get involved.

That's a great point. If Utah wants some cap/luxury tax relief, they are going to have to find a team under the cap willing to take on more salary than they are sending out. And right now, OKC and Portland are the only teams out there with that kind of flexibility.

Any other deal Utah makes not involving us or OKC is going to put them in the same boat as if they would have just kept Boozer and signed Millsap, since trading Boozer to another team over the cap without involving a third team (POR or OKC) means they'd have to take back within 25% of his salary.

Exactly. Fuck Haslem. It's a small upgrade that probably only wins us a couple of games.

At that price, I'd rather play chicken with Milsap and roll the dice that OKC doesn't get involved.

IMO, anybody coming back to Portland has to be at least as good as Milsap. Otherwise it's not worth our cap space, because even if we don't get Milsap, a guy like Milsap will probably become available some some time before the deadline.

Miami is under pressure to impress Wade. Utah is under pressure because in 8 days Milsap goes away. Portland is under pressure because....the Portland media and some of the fans are a little cranky to see something happen.

Portland isn't under anything near the pressure of Utah. They shouldn't feel a rush to agree to Haslem.

I don't think any one trade makes the Blazers a division rival at this point. The goal of a trade, should be to address weakness, and that in itself will eventually make the team a contender.

What are you talking about man? Those chicks are hot.

But yeah, no. I wouldn't want Haslem.

Clearly he was the one who got drunk/high in that hotel room. Those girls look as sober as a priest, a catholic priest, well specifically a Catholic Priest with a drinking problem but uh where was I....

I think Haslem would be a great fit here. Good toughness and D, decent offensive game. Brings it every night. If he can be had without giving up most of our cap space, I'm all for it.

Haslem wouldn't be a terrible addition. A lot less exciting than Millsap, certainly. He would, at least, give the team a good (not great) defender and rebounder. He'd essentially be a power forward version of Przybilla with a bit less rebounding.

I'm not sure I'd be thrilled with Portland using all of its cap space on Haslem, but he would improve the team a bit. I'd much rather have Hinrich than Haslem. And I'd much rather have Millsap than either. I might even rather just keep the cap space for a chance to trade it for a better player later in the basketball year.

What?! For real?! That chick on the right is at least serviceable!

Ugh ...

In a pinch, I suppose. But she strikes me as the type of chick that requires a pound of makeup, and that fucking Ed Hardy hat makes me want to vomit.

Like David Lee, he'd be a good fit if he was willing to be a back-up. Also like David Lee, I don't think he wants to be a back-up.

If we're unable to get Millsap, why not Lamar Odom? It would make our 10-deep lineup feel like 11-deep (considering Lamar would probably ask for minutes at SF where we already have two players) but he at least has the abilty to play both forward-positions, which could allow us to bring a player in his caliber.

If not him, I'd bring the best SL-prospect at Power-Forward or something like that. someone that wouldn't demand alot of minutes/money. If you look at our back-court, I now believe that losing Sergio was infact addition-by-substraction, if we don't bring another ego to our frontline (because we couldn't get an ego that would be worth it) it could be addition by non-addition.
